Quote from article- "Theocharidis got even better during the off-season, competing with the Greek National Team."
He got better? He was spectacular already!

That is a scary thought. Also, did anyone out there actually think he would stay this long? I expected another Yuval Katz 2 years and turn pro. I'm sure all the Hawaii fans are glad that didn't happen. Maybe 3 for 2003?

I also thought Costas was going to leave the mens team as many foreign players have in the past...I'm for one glad he stayed.

good article in today's star bulletin. here're a couple of paragraphs about costas' decision to stay:
Incentives to work harder might seem hard to find for Theocharidis. The 6-foot-3 outside hitter spent the summer playing international ball with the Greek national team and briefly considered professional volleyball.
But he opted to stay in Hawaii for a final season to complete the three-year investment in his education. Theocharidis has a chance to graduate as UH's first four-time All-American.

Not just first four-time all american, but first four-time FIRST TEAM all american. That's pretty impressive. I can't wait. Two more days!

A four time, first team AA is extremely rare. Its only happened 3 times in the history of men's NCAA volleyball. Adam Naeve is one of them but I cant remember who the other two are.
After this year, the list may double, with Costas, Keenan, and Toppel all working towards that goal.

Actually, only Costas is in that position this year. According to avca.org, Keenan and Toppel were both second team all-americans their freshman year. But hey, being a four-time all-american period is not an easy feat .

I thought Naeve and Taliafero were both 2nd teamers as freshman? Too lazy to look.

Wow, I am really off tonight. I stand corrected on almost everything.
Naeve wasn't a four time first team AA selection. He was a second team AA in his freshman year. And I remember it wasn't Taliaferro that was an AA all four years.
As for Toppel and Keenan, again I was mistaken. They were second team AA selections during their freshman year. I could have sworn that they were both first team picks but according to the AVCA website, I am mistaken.
I am pretty sure that there 3 players who made AA first team all 4 years of their college career. But then again, tonight I am completely off base so I could be wrong on that as well. If I were mistaken, it wouldn't surprise me at this point.

According to AVCA only 4 players have been 4 time all americans...
Ivan Contreras 94 - 97 Matt Fuebringer 94 -97 Adam Naeve 97-99,01 Brandon Taliaferro 97-00
And none of them were 4 time 1st teamers
Before 91 Im not sure? Anyone know?
