Tis the season for coaching change.....
Bests "contract will not be renewed" at Montana...Weston named interim....and position will not be advertised until March?
from official release:
University of Montana athletic director Jim O'Day announced Monday that after six seasons leading the Grizzly volleyball team, head coach Nikki Best and assistant head coach Dave Best will no longer be guiding the program.
"I appreciate Nikki and Dave's dedication to this program and UM athletics the past six years," O'Day said. "I wish them the best and know they will do well in whatever the future holds."
Assistant coach Allison Weston will remain with the program and has been named the interim head coach. She will retain the title until such time as a new head coach is announced, tentatively planned for July 1, 2006. The position will be advertised nationally in March and the new coach will be selected by June 1. The selection committee will be announced in early 2006 and will be chaired by Jean Gee, Associate Athletic Director for Student Services/Compliance.
"Allison is very qualified to lead this effort," O'Day said. "She's spent a considerable amount of time with the team and is well respected by the volleyball community."
Weston, a 1997 graduate of the University of Nebraska, was captain of the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2000 Summer Games in Sidney, Australia. She has served as the second assistant for the Bests since 2002.

Reading between the lines, does the release leave anyone else with the impression that Weston might get the job permanently?
