Lawlor Named BWC Player of the Week The Setter Leads The Beach to a .342 Team Attack Percentage
November 21, 2005
IRVINE, CA – Sophomore setter Dyanne Lawlor of the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team was selected as the Big West Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Lawlor joined teammates, Ali Daley and Erika Chidester as the other recipients of the conference Player of the Week award (Daley has been a two-time winner) this season.
Lawlor (Yorba Linda) guided The Beach to a .342 team attack percentage in its two sweeps over conference foes, Pacific and CS Northridge at The Walter Pyramid last weekend. The two wins secured a share of the conference championship (with UC Santa Barbara) for Long Beach State and more importantly secured the conference’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
Lawlor posted her first double-double of the season with 40 assists and 10 digs, to go along with seven kills versus CS Northridge on Saturday night. Lawlor also guided the 49er offense to a .429 clip vs. the Matadors. Lawlor registered 46 assists and two service aces versus Pacific on Friday.
For the season, Lawlor is averaging 12.58 assists per game.
Long Beach State (23-5, 12-2 Big West) hosts the Baden Thanksgiving Classic, Nov. 25-26 at The Walter Pyramid.
