For the teams coming into the Nebraska Regional, you might want to consider bringing in an extra sweater and a jacket. The temperature this morning was -1 with a wind chill of -10. Of course if you want to do any touring around the state, you might actually want to bring some cold weather clothing. The wind chill in other parts of the state was 33 below zero and not expected to warm up much for a couple of days. However, with the winds and snow we had last night, don't expect to actually SEE much of the state. It was a white-out blizzard in the eastern part. I hope you enjoy your visit

Hmmm. This is a very good argument why a regional should always be held in Hawai'i. I shuddered just reading that.

It's been really nippy in the Palo Alto area recently--getting down into the 30's at night but hitting the low 60's in the afternoons. Sunny blue skies and pinkish orange sunsets though.

Then it is ALWAYS insulated wet-suit weather.

I always get a chuckle out of some of my fellow Nebraskans. Every year when the first cold snap comes or the first snow falls you hear "I can't believe its gotten so cold!" "Its snowing already?!" Its not even winter yet! (Dec 21st?) Come on now, you've lived here for HOW many years!. Winter does not arrive on Dec 21. It probably WILL get cold sometime around the end of October. Personally I like the change in weather. Not so monotonous. I just find it funny how every year it supposed to be this big suprise when the snow falls. Just an observation over the years, not a scolding.

But no need to worry there should still be plenty of snow to greet you no matter what the temps

The Bay Area is where several cold weather equipment gear makers such as The North Face, Sierra Designs, and Mountain Hard Wear got their start. Whether or not we really need such clothing locally given our weather is another matter.

Well, then, you can take pride in the Bay Area. Its products keep sorority girls throughout northern climates from freezing to death in those long bar lines. At least they are going with more than one style North Face jacket now, as opposed to a few years ago, when the black puffy one was required attire.

At least they are going with more than one style North Face jacket now, as opposed to a few years ago, when the black puffy one was required attire. It's almost all made in Asia or Latin America now. I imagine they have a need for heavy fleece jackets in chilly Costa Rica. The North Face shut down their Berkeley factory years ago. There's still some local clothing being made. Roshambo still makes their stuff locally for the Cal volleyball team, as well as numerous Bay Area HS and club teams.

There has been so much frost on our yard here in the Bay Area (of California) that my kids lie on the grass every morning to do that angel thing.

To the Floridians and Californians making the trek to Omaha. It will be getting milder as the weekend approaches. It's actually supposed to be near or even above freezing Saturday and Sunday.
