Two boring matchs...real wipe-outs. The outsides for neither Tennessee nor Santa Clara could put the ball down. Jitters for two teams making their first final four appearence? Santa Clara was clearly intimadated by Nebraskas block. The only offence from Tennesse was from their middles, Andre and Blum.
The two middles for Santa Clara: Annalisa Muratore (who is only listed at 6'2", not 6'4") is very oveweight, slow and can't jump. The other, Anna Cmaylo (who is listed at 6' 4", not 6' 5") is not athletic and was not a factor at the net. Both are only Sophmores, so let's see what happens with them in the next two years.
I'm going with Nebraska in the finals.

I'm going with Nebraska in the finals. I tried digging up their heights from memory. They're not a small team by any stretch. I do agree that their middles are rather slow. Muratore is a big girl alright, but I tend not to be indelicate on describing young women.

I am still trying to figure out how SC got to this match! They got hot against Stanford. Their back row defense was good enough to keep them in rallies against Arizona. Arizona might have also been a bit gassed from a five gamer the night before, while Santa Clara cruised over an overmatched Pepperdine. I think Arizona (if fresh and absolutely ON) would sweep Santa Clara on their best night. The current Arizona team just isn't terribly consistent.

I think the better question to ask is how did Pepperdine manage to beat USC? I didn't see the match, but USC must really have been flat to have lost.

Well SCU be UA twice this year so can't be too big of a stretch that SCU is in the same league with Arizona, but yes, if UA were ON then I'm not sure anyone in the country could stay with them, including Nebr and UW.

I am still trying to figure out how SC got to this match! Because they played against Arizona with an up ref that dind't mind calling the Wildcat's setter for some of her bad sets? If the same ref had been up when Arizona played Ohio who knows what would have happened in the regional final.

It wouldn't surprise me if she's the up ref again for the final.

I watched the U of A vs SCU match yesterday, and I can tell you Kim Glass looked like the same Kim Glass back in her hs days in PA. Impressive athlete, bizzare attack choices in critical moments, and unable to win championships. Great kid, great talent, but not really a great competitor.

It will be interesting to see who is the up ref, Cook and Patsy Malta have been longtime close friends. Will she excuse herself, or will this give UW fan's something to complain about?

On the other hand, Joannie being from Colorado isn't exactly a huge Nebraska fan. (BTW: Joan called a very consistent match at a very acceptable "let'em play" level without letting any really obvious ones go.... well she let one bad one go.

The only problem with "let 'em play" is if she is the only ref doing that, then it's going to throw off the teams that don't get to see her. I think some of her no calls really got into Hawaii's head vs. Missouri, whereas Missouri had seen her before.

RE: Kim Glass I would say that as much as anyone Glass put Arizona in a position to win the thing. Yes, she did make 2 erorrs down the stretch, but I'd never say that but for Glass Uof A would have won that match. It's quite the opposite.
It's hard to say why she couldn't get the last few swings down. My sense was more that Santa Clara was playing great defense.

Maybe Stanford was not as good as some thought they were, especially w/o CB. Losing their setter wasn't that big of a blow, cause it wasn't exactly like they didn't have a decent back-up!
