question:
Since Nebraska didn't win it this season, will Houghtelling wear the bracelet for another year?

Well, UW took it one step at a time--regional final loss, semi loss, champs. NU skipped the semi-final loss part. Maybe next year they take it all?

They will have to do it by winning a Regional that is not in Nebraska. Something they have never done. So next year will probably be more tense than this year. The pressure will be there to show up to the Final Four more so than this year.

I wont be surprised to see the NCAA select a site for a host regional that will be slightly questionable. I can see a selection that would go something like Florida, Hawaii, Wisconsin, and New Mexico State. And Nebraska will end up in that last region where no school would have a home court advantage. Nebraska will still have to fend off a couple of top teams, but the brackets will probably look pretty safe for the Huskers to advance to the Final Four.

Nebrask getting to the final four will have no bearing on ticket sales, remember they pre-sold 10,000 tickets before the NCAA field was even announced, 7,500 in early October. The Final four will have 15,000 minimum whether the Huskers are there or not. Some of you folks are so woefully uninformed.

Nebraska returns Pavan, Houghtelling and Larson, but they lost Jen S and Elmer. The loss of Jen S will be huge as she is their best player defensively (remember how Cook mentioned that she brought a backrow play/ethic that was never seen in Nebraska), and Elmer is a dominant MB -- I am not sold on Stalls yet. Plus, unless they get a true defense specialist/libero, the issue of passing and backcourt defense will still be there.

I've heard rumors that Busboom will move to libero next year. She is a good defender and can dig very well, but certainly not in the league of Lee. I believe Cook needs to recruit a top-notch libero. Dani might be good, Schwartz could develop, but I don't see these girls turning into Paula Gentil.

He already had a top notch libero, Amanda McCormick, who had a great year at Ball State.

I think that your comments just may be a bit presumptuous and a little dangerous perhaps. I am sure that they will sell the tickets, but if Nebraska is a huge favorite to make it to the final four(which they should be) an they are somehow eliminated(bad PSU type match, injuries, etc.) it is possible that they won't fill the seats. Don't assume facts not in evidence here, YOU JUST NEVER EVER KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS!

They will make a huge profit for the NCAA. However, if Nebraska fails to make it, I have a hard to trying to picture how the event will run. I can imagine a number of Husker fans wont go to the event, while a great number will still go and probably outnumber the rest of the opposing teams fans. I am having a hard time imagining an electric atmosphere when a majority of the crowd will likely be Husker fans cheering for a team that isn't their own. I can't imagine how the Husker fans will react if Stanford, Florida, UCLA, Hawaii, Penn State, USC, or Washington makes it to the Final Four. I suspect the Husker fans will cheer against Washington, but it is hard to say what other kinds of reactions other matches will bring up. I remember in 1999 when Hawaii was knocked out of the regional semi against Texas A&M. In the regional final, Texas A&M v. Long Beach State, there were still a number of fans that went, but the fans were all sort of confused. Do we root for Texas A&M who just knocked our team out of the tournament when we are hosting the Final Four? Or do we root for Long Beach State, who has been the Hawaii rival for the past decade? The Final Four in Hawaii also felt a bit strange. There was still a good number of people in the stands, but the Final Four was relatively quiet, even for a Hawaii crowd. Penn State, Long Beach, Stanford, and Pacific. It was hard to figure out who to root for.

Nebraska will be hurting in the middle. Stalls has really disappointed me this season. We must FIND A SETTER. I think that person is Holloway. Let Busboom be libero, ds, serving specialist. Congrats to UW and Coach Jim.

I think this was Nebraska's year. I have a feeling it won't be in the cards for the Cornhuskers over the next two years.
Saleaumua and Elmer are HUGE losses. Stanford is going to be TOUGH. And whereever Hodge ends up .. they will be tough, especially if its Florida.
In terms of the Final Four. Nebraska fans will show up whether their team is in it or not. When Hawaii knocked out Nebraska in 2002, the Cornhuskers fans STILL showed up by the busload and they screamed as loud if not louder for Hawaii.
