I'd certainly rank them right up there with the best teams of all time. To sweep their way to the title, not a single home match in the playoffs, is damn impressive. No, they didn't go undefeated, but they dominated in the tournament like few teams have. Has any team in the modern era swept through all 6 opponents before?

I think the competition was waaay down this year. I'll say now after Washington there is a big dropoff.

If you want to talk about a year that the competition was waaaaaaaaaaay down then talk about the year that Nebraska won the National Championship....that was a horribly down year in women's volleyball.....this year was a pretty darned competitive year and this Huskie team is certainly one of the top 5 of all time!

I wouldn't say that. That 2000 Husker team was good.

The 2000 Wisconsin team was good as well.
The 2000 USC team was still youngish and didn't have enough big match experience when they lost to Wiscnsin in the semis.
LBSU was a decent team that came out of perhaps the weakest regional that year and ran into a Husker buzz saw.

But they almost lost to Wisconsin. That was pretty amazing.
Then they have Metcalf back for 2001 and -- poof! Also amazing.

2000 was Hawaii, not Long Beach.

Which, btw, is why BiK is defending the 2000 Huskers. Just like why he liked UW. Anything that makes UH look better. That's his mantra.

I remember 2000, that was the year Minnesota was in Hawaii's regional. They lost to UCSB, so they didn't meet though.

Yup. The Gopher's best defensive, best serve receive player had probably her worst match of the season. OTOH: One of their middles had perhaps the match of her career. Life goes on.

Life went on, you mean.
I'll never forget the Minnesota OHs pounding the ball off the top of the UCSB block time after time after time -- and UCSB then running down the deflection time after time after time.
Next year was the pits and UNI puts them out after being down 0-2.
But 2002 was the beginning of some defense being played.
But I digress. Sorry.
