A date? Who's the lucky mammal? (I'm just assuming.) It's me. We've been carrying on secretly for some time now. Bik's a closet Badger fan. He flies in to Madison twice a month.

That is true. I believe the Huskers upended NO.5 Arizona that year... However speaking of which, I wish they televised that Hawaii-vs-Long Beach ST regional semi because that was one of the best games in Hawaii's recent history. I don't know if anyone remembers it, but the intensity started from the beginning when the whole SSC roared boos toward the entire LBSU team. I remember some of the Hawaii players were like 'omg' because of the booing, but I guess it was to return the favor right? Anyway, there were some up and down moments, a lot of lifts on Nishimoto, and finally a Hawaii runaway in game 5 to seal the victory. Hey does anyone remember the very ending where I forgot who it was-I think Willoughby hammered a ball and it went up into the air and hit the floor while all the LBSU starters looked up and just froze? I think that was for the game, but wow the intensity level of everyone in the SSC was just emaculate. When the SSC is rocking, it IS the BEST arena in the college game for both the men and women PERIOD. That was an awesome match and they did televise it on TV because that's how I watched it...I even have it on video. But match point was a ball that Lily hit not Kim. But none the less it was a great match with the crowd rockin.

I think the competition was waaay down this year. I'll say now after Washington there is a big dropoff. The Pac-10 won for the 5th year in a row; What-Drop-Off?

You will never see five or six team who just dominate anymore. There are so many great players and programs now, just as in men's basketball there is going to be great parity. All of the great players are not all going to the same hand full of schools. From coast to coast the level of volleyball just keeps getting better. The biggest difference is that teams in the bottom half of conferences are now starting to compete with some of the big timers which makes people think the level of volleyball is going down which is just not the case.

The Pac10 produced the champion for the 5th year in a row. There was a huge drop-off after UW. The NCAAs were not good for them.
That said, they still were the best conference in 2005 and look pretty damned solid for 2006.
