The one thing USC had that NU doesn't was a great libero. Their 6-2 was, therefore, more effective, although I'm not sure they had better hitters or that their setting was that much better.
I think NU would have had the same problems with that team that they had with UW. What we'll never know was whether this was just an off match for NU.

If Washington played the USC teams of 2002 and 2003, I think the Huskies would be titleless as well. I'm not so sure about that. This year's Huskie team was pretty darned flawless. Their defense could have given those USC teams many anxious moments by continuously keeping the ball in play like they did against Nebraska tonight. Courtney Thompson finding good matchups for her teammates on offense would have been interesting as well. It could be that USC may well that USC would win such a matchup but it certainly isn't a given. That USC team was probably the best volleyball team ever. No one came close to them the entire season. Had Florida had Jenkins for the championship match, they might have some how won, but I seriously doubt it. Like I said, should of, would of, could of. Florida just happens to have its best team ever the year USC is unbeatable. And just like that, another season is in the books.

And you're just going to keep on saying it wrong, too, aren't you?

Geez. Time to lie down. Why was I comparing NU to USC?
Hmmm. UW v. USC. I think that would be a real battle. But UW would have the setting edge and the hitting edge. USC might be better on defense. I dunno. I think the Huskies could play with them.

USC had much more firepower on the left and in the middle. Doof!!

Plus, I think people forget just how good Florida and Hawaii really were that year. In almost any other season, those two teams would have won the championship. That USC was the greatest ever, IMHO.

So you think the Anderson/whosit tandem was better than Thompson? Who's crazy now?
I'd take UW's hitters over USC's, although it's close. Morrison is better than Burdine. Or -- I'm drawing a blank. Whatsherface, the AA. Never thought much of USC's middles, offensively. But I don't know about blocking and I'm not sure Lee is as good as Davis.
And then there's the intangibles, about which we will never know.

Hawaii wasn't in Florida's league, let alone USC's. Way too one-dimensional and that one dimension tanked, badly.

Ross, Olsovsky, Adams, Burdine, Candelas as All Americans with Davis and Anderson thrown in.

Please allow those with a clue to discuss this (R)uff. You're really out of your league here buddy.

Just to name a "few" teams that would have been very competitive against those USC teams and have more than just a small chance of beating either of those USC teams.

Good teams in their own right but just not close to USC.
