They will be loaded again. Here is a list of potential starters: Price Fawcett Harmotto Salyer Glass B. Brown Hodge K. Brown Naylor
Okay, so here is what I'm thinking. Put Glass at setter, at 6-0 she is a good setter and can attack when needed. Your middles are Walbridge and Harmotto. On the rightside start 6-5 Salyer, and on the outside go with Fawcett, and either Price or Hodge. Finally, Kris Brown at the libero. How do you keep Blair Brown out of the starting lineup, and how do you keep either Price(2004 B10 FOY) or Hodge(#1 recruit in nation) on the bench?

Move Price to RS and Salyer sits.

Price needs to be on the court for passing. She is probably the best passer on the team right now. Not completely sure about everything else though. It might be possible to sit Salyer and have Fawcett or Hodge play opposite.

Do they have enough scholarships? How many current players are walk ons? They are certainly loaded and I'm sure Russ won't mind the problem of having too much talent. Now, can they can get over the hump and get back to the final 4? The way 3 of the last 4 seasons have ended have been highly disappointing for that program.

I think she's about 6'0 and a better setter. I'd say it's either Yanz 5-1 or a 6-2 with Glass and Yanz, but not Glass in a 5-1.

I disagree, I say Glass in a 5-1. Glass is a more offensive minded setter and when your opponent must worry about Hodge, Fawcett, Harmotto, Brown etc. the last thing you want is a setter who is not afraid to dump a lot.

The only reason that I agree with Yanz running the 5-1, if that is what they decide, is because she is used to running a more complex offense than Glass. I'm not sure that Glass has ever run a 5-1 because she was such a good hitter. And I think Holehouse has a good chance of being their libero.

Yeah but, why do you need an offensive-minded setter when you have that offense? You need someone to tip once in a while, but not be offensive-minded. Yanz is a more accomplished, more experienced setter, and as an SPVB alum, she will be more like Tortorello.

I think they first must decide on who the leaders of this talented team will be. The skills of Tortorello and Walters will be missed but their leadership roles need to be filled. Penn State not only lost a great setter and libero but team captains for the past two years.
My guess is a 6-2. Glass is a superb athlete and will be on the floor so look for her to play all the way around when Yanz is in the back setting. Don't need any of these setters to tip and contribute much on offense when setting from the back. Tortorello didn't need to display many offensive skills with Fawcett, Harmotto, Price and Walbridge all wanting the ball. Think of the offensive power and blocking that this team is going to have with Fawcett, Hodge, Harmatto, Walbridge, Brown and Glass. Everybody touches well over 10 feet and with the possible exception of Walbridge can really beat the c--p out of the ball. Walbridger is there primarily for blocking but Sam knew how to use her the previous two years as her hitting percentages were at or near the top in the Big Ten. Speed, height, power and athleticism and they will all be around for the next 2-4 years. Yikes!!! Throw in Price, Salyer and Holloway ( doubt that these players are going to give up their positions without a fight) and you have enough talent for 2 Big Ten teams where both could easily be in the top 3 in the conference. Real battle may be for the Libero spot, there is a lot of VOLLEYBALL talent that is going to compete for this spot even though they may have been a primary hitter in the past. Most of these players are capable of attacking from the back row which is going to make this a really diverse offense. Rose's teams are known for their defense so expect him to come up with the necessary people to fill the key defensive and ball control duties. Practices will be intense as each player will fight for a position and a role on this team.

Backrow attack is not too likely if they go with a 6-2, however. The libero will be in there (we assume), and the backrow setter. So that limits it to the OHs...

![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Sometimes you can have TOO much talent, especially if there's big egos to go with it. I'm not saying that's the case with Penn State......

I feel that PSU will be great depending on how their ball control is. Loosing their top notch libero and one of the best setters in the country (and she can make good sets out of bad passing) will hurt. Lots of attackers but ball control will be the key. Did anybody see the finals? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) that is how you win a championship! ESTRELLA ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)
