Last time I checked there was no schedule of play posted on the CAL club website. Do you know when it will be there? Have some friends playing and don't want to miss them. Thanks.

Theres a schedule of play on their website. Otherwise check out the league website at www.nccvl.info and click on "master schedule" and search there for Cal's league match ups.

you guys should have come to indiana over the weekend. one hell of a tournament. MATC is definitely beatable. solid, but definitely beatable. doesnt hurt that tom sorenson is their coach (he looks REAL gay with his bleach blonde hair imho). wisconsin has an outside who used to play at pepperdine and a middle who used to play at quincy and took a game off of them. outside was hitting 2 balls for pipes, and was about 6'2 and could not weigh more than 27 or 28 pounds. has anyone seen zona play?? i know that their setter, shorter outside, and one middle (maybe 2) arent there this year. the teams that are listed that are east of A&M i can give you a heads up on if you really want. i'd love to hear something about zona tho,,,,,,,,,,,,

I saw and played against MATC at Far Westerns out in Davis about a month ago and they're really strong. Rite now they're #1 on Div. 1 NIRSA rankings. Who won that tournament in Indiana by the way?
I was wondering on how Arizona would do this year, thinking that most of their starters would graduate or have their eligibility clocks expire. They're consistently in the top 5 in the country, which is pretty impressive. From what heard about last years Arizona team, they were pretty damn good. (I heard they made a very strong Davis team look like ametuers).
I can give head's up on any teams from Nor. Cali.
I didnt recognize Tom Sorensen with blond hair. I recognized his nose tho.

im not sure who won. we lost in first round of playoffs to lakeland after another sleepless night and another morning of cold showers in the econolodge which was inhabited by prolly 15 teams. im on the lookout to see who won. if i cant find anything i'll email dave at indiana and see who won. imo, davis was the weakest team to advance to the "final four" last year. illinois and penn state would have been a much better match for zona in the finals. have you seen zona play this year???

the indiana tournament ended with MATC beating Marquette in 3. Marquette beat a weak looking illinois in the semi's and MATC beat indiana in the semi's also... indiana came out looking real strong beating matc in the first game but seemed overconfident with the win and ended up falling 2-1. I beleive the tourney finshed #1MATC, #2 Marquette, Tie #3 Indiana, and illinois, Tie #5 Penn State, Dayton, Miami, and i forget who the last team was in the quarter finals.. may have been ball state. MATC has all of the tools to win nationals this year, they have a storng middle and a good outside that leads the team well... all around they have a great balanced offense. Their setter needs to make better decisions, however they have been able to over power teams so far this year with their hitting and blocking ability. they may have some problems at nationls though if their setter doesnt get his act together. Marquette has a lot of height. Other than that i think they are a very beatable team. Their enthusiasm and antics psych out a lot of teams... and i dont think i saw them play in a negative mind state the entire weekend at indiana. they have a 6'10"ish pin blocker and a 6'9"ish middle blocker that match up for a pretty big block... when they play teams that start working around that instead of trying to over power them they are going to start having some problems winning... Their libero plays some great D... a little shaky at times passing, but i would say he was by far the best libero of the tournament... he kept a lot of rallies going againt matc in the finals and really kept them in the match. if anyone has some questions about the weekend just let me know i was around all weekend...

MATC is most definitely beatable, but a great team. We, Indiana, went to three with them, but lost focus after the switch at 8. *shrug* It was a great match. They had a good 3 inches on us at every position, but we held our own. Then MATC played Marquette in the finals in one hell of a match. Marquette was probably the one team in the tournament that could match up with MATC player for player in terms of size. As long as Marquette could continue to pass and side out well, they were right there; however, once their passing faultered, MATC capitalized. The team can flat out terminate. Their libero is an outstanding passer and they play great team defense and are particularly good in pursuit of the ball. I would love to play them again.
In regards to Marquette, what gets interesting is when you start playing the mind games right back with them. When we played them at the Michigan State Hardwood Classic, they must have learned a thing or two from us. They are respectable and respectful opponents regardless.
See ya'll this weekend!
