Following Wednesday's four-game home loss to Oregon, the 49ers (3-1) face a tough challenge this weekend.
Three matches at the Nebraska Tournament begin with Middle Tennessee State tonight and continue against St. Mary's on Saturday. Then Sunday, the main event.
After sweeping their own tournament, the 49ers will find out just how good they are at this point in the season when they face No. 1 Nebraska.
And they may have to challenge the nation's top-ranked team without senior outside hitter Robin Miramontes, who injured her ankle this week and sat out the loss to Oregon.

All this fingerpointing and chest-thumping about injury rates is total crap. If you are a full-time athlete for several years, eventually you will go through a period when you're playing with a nagging injury or disability of some kind. There is no statistical surprise in having two or three players on a roster of 13-20 with some kind of injury. It is the nature of the game and not just another opportunity to piss on someone else's program despite what numerous VolleyTalkers seem to believe.

It's okay to have little nagging injuries at this point because the season is just starting and there's still time to heal and bounce back. I don't think there isn't a team in the country with an entirely healthy squad. But with LBSU, whether they're healthy or not, they still have a long way to go to be a Top 25 team again.
