Cal State Northridge will play in another tournament this time on their home court in the "super-sized" venue, the Matadome. CSUN plays two tough opponets, OREGON and UTAH STATE. Of course I'd like to see CSUN win both of their matches - stop their losing streak to the Ducks(seem like they're playing better under second-year head coach Jim Moore) and continue their winning streak against the aggies. Not gonna be an easy task since these two teams played well last week especially Oregon defeating once-ranked #17 LBSU.

MATADORS IN THE FREMONT INVESTMENT & LOAN INVITATIONAL
Cal State Northridge brings an 8-4 record in four previous tournaments into this weekend¡¯s action. Last season, the Matadors finished 1-2 in the Fremont with their lone win coming over UNLV in five games. Northridge also dropped a five-game decision to Arizona State and then fell in three games to No. 23 Saint Mary¡¯s. In 2004, the Matadors claimed their first tournament title after defeating Cornell (3-0), UNLV (3-1) and then holding off SMU in a five-game thriller. Oregon played in the inaugural Fremont Investment & Loan Invitational in 2002 and won the championship with a perfect 4-0 record.
MATADORS UP FOR THE BLOCK
After being out-blocked by a large margin last season, Northridge has turned the tables after three matches this season. Last season¡¯s 2.17 blocks per game game average (compared with 2.56 for Matador opponents) would be a distant memory if Northridge can keep up its current pace of 3.29 blocks per game. Darla Donaldson leads the team with 19 total blocks (all assisted) while Val Kepler has 17 total stuffs (two solo, 15 assists) and Hilary Brinkman has 11 total (two solo, nine assists). Freshman Angela Hupp has also gotten into the act with 10 total blocks (all assisted). The Matadors out-blocked San Diego State in the season-opener by a sizable 16.0 to 9.5 margin and also had a significant 18.5 to 14.0 edge over Hofstra.
ASSISTS ALL AROUND
The setting duo of Hupp and sophomore Kayla Wright has also been effective in the early going. Wright, who averaged a team-best 9.89 assists per game as a freshman a season ago, is now sharing setting duties with Hupp in the Matadors¡¯ 6-2 formation. The two have combined to average 12.08 assists per game which would rank fourth in the Big West this week. Wright has 70 helpers for an average of 5.83 while Hupp has 66 assists for a 5.50 assists per game average.
