I didn't see the game, but why did Texas stay away from Hooker? 20 attacks? That's 4 a game. She needs to get 40-60 attacks in a 5 game match.
Engle has struggled to start out her college career, hitting .033 in her first 4 matches.
Armstrong and Acevado look like they will be the goto hitters this season.
Their blocking needs to improve if they are going to be a true championship contender.
I'm really surprised that they lost, even if they didn't play so well.

Engle aint gonna be the freshmen of the year, I always thought she was overated, she would be better as a setter.

Hooker has yet to hit over .300 for a single match yet this season. People seem to think she has been really dominating this early in her career, give her time. Yeah she had 22 kills against Washington, but she was set like 60 times and had a lot of errors.
She'll be really good, but I don't think she is going to be absolutely dominating this season.

Pedro, thank you for your comments about Hooker. You can fall in love with her athletic ability (As the terrible announcer on the TX-UW match did. Where do they find these people?), but, she is not a polished player. And to blaase, your comments about Engle have merit. her struggles continue! This result still amazes me. CPSLO does not have a player, or athlete, who could start for Texas. They are a very average team. Do not get me wrong, they deserve credit for showing up to compete and playing to win. This is not a good loss for Texas though. And it is a great win for CPSLO!
By the way, I have two questions about CPSLO. First I saw Caitlin Suttich playing for them. Is she related to Steve Suttich, former UCLA star and UW coach? I noted some resemblance. Second, I saw that Gabrielle Rivera, formerly of OSU and FSU, was on the roster, but was not suited up (I do not know if she was even there). What is the story, if anyone knows?

I said it in the Spring. She's a great athlete but not a great volleyball player yet. I said don't be screaming she's AA material this year 'cause she has to learn the game first. Everybody can be beat.

This was an ugly match. Texas had so many unforced errors and so many defensive mistakes almost anyone could have beaten them. That being said, Poly came out hard and fought for every point, this was a season making match for them and they showed a ton of heart. This match was strange from the start. Texas wasn't playing well early in the 2nd game, then with the score tied 5-5, Poly is out of rotation....15 minutes later it's 6-6 and play starts up again. Then it's 12-8 Texas.....same thing. Poly is out of rotation, 15 minute minute delay to get it corrected, score remains unchanged. 3 1/2 hour match with the delays. Nobody from Texas played well. Hooker didn't touch the court for 2 1/2 games, Moriarity was pulled, they tried everything to get untracked...couldn't get it done.
