Can you Florida fans tell me what Mary is thinking with Killingsworth on the OH. She was such a tremendous force in the middle last year. That really surprises me. I would think she was so good, they could develope someone else for the OH. My opinion, big mistake.

Wow. Florida looked deflated today. Not the same team as yesterday. UCLA looked very, very good. Passing was amazing, and as I believe I've said a hundred times, Lyman played well, so the Bruins did well. One ball she absolutely pounded down line on Florida looked impressive.
UCLA is definitely in end of season form today. Spicer was absolutely amazing, even with the not-so-great passes.
However, I think the story line goes to UCLA's middles, especially Nana, who was flying through and popping kills at will, but also Rachell Johnson, who showed why she was so highly recruited. Amazing blocks and effective attacking from both.
Interesting to see the matches tomorrow.

Just got back from the Stan Sheriff Center. Florida just deflated in the 3rd game after losing the first two games after having big leads. I can see why Mike Sealy said that Nellie Spicer together with KK are the two best setters in the country. Spicer had a great match, setting, digging, blocking, spiking, and serving. She did it all. Nana, of course, as pointed out above had a monster game. She was unstoppable.

Does Mary have a tendancy to get mad over ridiculous issues?
After reading this thread and hearing she was upset with the refs for telling her the wrong number of time outs she has left in a game is seems likely that she does.
She has staff / players on the bench keeping stats for the team so how hard is it to count up to 2 for timeouts the team has taken?
d'oh..

Perhaps IB should take a sharpie to their next match and offer to mark the timeouts taken each game on her wrist.

In Mary's defense. The refs were crap tonight.
I think that someone either mis-wrote the rotation from the rotation sheet, or on the rotation sheet, which is where the roatation violation/delay came from at the start of game 2.
It was really weird.
Regarding the time-outs. I really don't remember an issue with the timeouts during the match... I missed part of game one, so maybe it was there?

I think everyone knew it was a joke. However, when I said a Tennessee player did it to me in 04, that wasn't a joke. Whatever did you do to deserve that? I was just heckling and she got tired of it. Was this before or after the story when you said the UTK players "knew you and feared you" and told us to ask them about you, and then when we asked them about you they said they had no idea... It was in that same post because one of the people I said to ask was the girl who did it.

The smallest of infractions can result in various privileges being revoked.

One of florida's players reminds me so much of Ellen Degeneres I think you're talking about Rhian Davis. I wonder if she can dance like Ellen?

Florida has injuries to Klinkenborg and Williams, both outside hitters. This is one of the reasons why Mary must use a three middle attack. These players should be back in the next few weeks. Florida doesn't like the West Coast mentality of keeping 20 players on its roster. It makes for a happier team when players get to play.

I'll be quite honest. I was TOTALLY cheering on UCLA. Hawaii doesn't have too many opportunities to play ranked teams. With only UCLA and Stanford left that are solid Top 10 material teams, Hawaii needed UCLA to stay in the Top 10. If Florida took apart UCLA, then a win against UCLA for Hawaii would be questioned. Now, should Hawaii come away with a win against UCLA it will be a good win. That being said, Florida fans shouldn't worry too much. Florida played very well in the first two games. They didn't fold at all. The problem was that they couldn't stop Merriwether. Nana was ON FIRE. She was pounding the ball down at will ~ and not all of her sets were on the money either. Nana gets up so fast and has such big hang time that the Florida block just couldn't touch her attack. I'm not too sure that any block could've touched Nana yesterday. In the first game, the Gators really held most of the Bruin attack in check. Carter and Johnson were having a tough time in the first set and a half. The difference in the match was that UCLA has a lot of people that it can go to should someone have a hard time, with very little drop off in talent or ability. Daley played very well and Spicer was just awesome. Sather came in midway through game 2 for a struggling Carter and gave the Bruins another offensive outlet. The Bruin block touched a lot of balls that allowed the defense to keep them in the point until they could get a good enough pass to set Nana. The swagger that the Gators had coming in to the match, and through two games, virtually disappeared in the third as UCLA just demolished the Gators. Nothing seemed to work for the Gators as the Bruins got all the lucky breaks and Johnson got on fire to add to Nana's offensive onslaught. The Bruin defense and transition game got quicker and quicker as the match went on and, by the third game, the deflated Gators just didn't have the defensive spirit that I saw in the match against Hawaii. Gator fans need not worry though. Hampton is improved in all areas of her game, especially hitting against a double block, which she has seen all tourney long. Once the injuries are cured and the natural outside hitters return to the lineup, this will be a tough team ~ especially hosting a regional. Cusack, Davis and Hampton in the back row will keep this team in a LOT of matches. McGinnis is (as much as I hate to say it) a very composed setter. She is unbelievable adept at saving overpasses and turning them into kills via a great set, an unreturnable dump, or a block. I am very impressed by her all-around game. Last, but not least, the Gators have ranked opponents in conference that will allow them to gain "good wins" and shoot for a high seed in the tourney. Tennessee and, it appears, LSU, will keep them on their toes and tournament ready. The Bruins earned this match and it was a gutsy comeback in the first two games that I haven't seen many Bruin teams do in the last few years. Will they finally live up to their potential given all of that talent? We'll see ... but I hope it happens AFTER the Hawaii match. Hawaii needs this win!

Even if someone really did do it though, I don't see it as a big deal. We've been flicked off by players from south carolina and kentucky, but i didnt really see it as an issue, or really blame them for it... As for the actual game, how did that one chick hit 8-something on 22 attacks? Is she some crazy crazy superstar? Was their some explanation involving the tactics the team's were using? Did the starts just allign and she played the game of her life? All of the above? I don't know much about non SEC volleyball, it's not exactly on TV much...

First of all if all you know is SEC volleyball, you're missing out alot! If you get cable you can see quite a few teams from the Pac-10 (Fox Pacific) the Big 10 and Big 12 (Fox Midwest) or CSTV of course. ESPN does a lot of Big 10 games towards mid season. "that chick" is a very good MB for UCLA. 2005 1st team Pac-10 led UCLA in blocks 19 times last year. Had 22 matches where she finished with 5 blocks or more her sophomore season.
