Scores were 30-22, 30-25, 30-26. Cal went 3-0 to win the FIU Invitational, while FIU went 2-1 to finish as runners-up. Cal's Sam Carter and Angie Pressey were named to the all-tournament team while Hana Cutura was tournament MVP.
As usual - pictures to follow.

:)Love the hamster!
Florida vs Cal would be a great match. Reunite all the Florida girls on both teams that have probably played against each other in high school and club.
Plus, we'd get pictures!!!!!! ;D

Man - I'm dazed after flying home from Miami. Packed flight. Delayed for about 2 hours because the plane was checked out in the hangar after being used on an international flight. Sometimes sleeping on the plane only makes it worse when you get home from short term insomnia.
Oh back to volleyball. I rather found it odd that the FIU fans (mostly students?) were chanting "OVER-RATED!" before the match even started. Perhaps I'm used to that after there's an upset. Perhaps the FIU fans were starting a new trend.

I look at those pictures, and all I can think is "what fans?"

Just curious - is the tourney MVP the foreign player who recently re-located at Cal?

I could be tempted to cheer for Cal based on the hamster alone.

Just curious - is the tourney MVP the foreign player who recently re-located at Cal? Yep - that would be Hana Cutura. I thought maybe Angie Pressey would have gotten the nod, since she had a ridiculous .485 hitting against FIU. Most of the crowd was also on the bench side. Still - announced attendance was a bit over 400.

I'm surprised Yarimar Rosa committed to Florida Int'l. I saw her play this summer in Mexico on the Puerto Rican JNT team and thought she was a great all around player, if a little small. I would compare her with Ali Daley. I wonder if she just didn't want to go too far from home?

I would compare her with Ali Daley. I wonder if she just didn't want to go too far from home? She could mash alright. I'd also think the large Puerto Rican community in South Florida would make things more comfortable for her. That and the fact that Spanish is spoken **everywhere**.
