I'm not sure if anyone else has been keeping up with the buzz, but I love it that the nation's top volleyball recruit has refused to commit until this point. I wish more prep players would follow in her footsteps and wait to make your commitments.
Not only is it exciting for fans to speculate and have a visitor coming to your school (I had a blast with it last weekend), but it keeps the coaches on their toes in trying to land the best recruits.
Thanks for taking your time. Best of luck to you, Alix in making this decision!

It's easy for an athlete like Klineman to wait and decide because there is no question she will get recruited. The problem is that many athletes don't have those same opportunities so have to gamble on an early offer or none at all.

I agree, some girls are going to need to jump at any opportunity that they can, but I still like the idea of waiting until their senior year to make their choices. Not only will this make it more exciting for volleyball fans eager to land a top recruit at their program, but it'll give those programs devastated by transfers (perhaps another by-product of choosing schools to early?) a chance to rebuild without waiting for top-talent to arrive three-years later.

I have to wonder if it's only a matter of time when volleyball recruiting becomes more like basketball or football recruiting. In volleyball once you verbally commit other schools usually back off the recruitment process. In football and basketball, players can and do change their commitment until the moment they sign the LOI.
Alix's visit sure did create some hype though, I don't think there has ever been this much talk about a potential UH recruit.... in any sport football included.

After watching her at the Ann Kang Invitational in August, I concluded that the Alix mania is not "hype" at all. I would not disagree with anyone if he or she says that the university on her list that winds up with her will likely win national championship or at the least will end up in the final four during her four years there. She is that good.

Yes, I agree that I like the fact if all had to wait until their senior years but what about the girls who are holding on waiting for Alix to committ. Those waiting to go to their dream schools depending on Alix's decision. We have a scholarship for you if Klineman tells us no. That could really suck too.

"Kudos to Alix Klineman" Wow your nose is brown IB. Your innuendo to the contrary notwithsanding, IB has been spending a lot of time on the beaches of beautiful Hawaii, making them safer for tourists, as part of a project recently profiled in the New York Times. Hence the brown nose. Disirregardless, Alix will join the wonderful program at Stanford.

Your doubts mean little to us Beachman. I can assure you of one thing though, If Klineman decides on Stanford, or any School other than Hawai'i....you won't hear any of us b#@$ about it for months on end.

I'll be cheering her on whereever she goes... however, I'll cheer her on more in Hawaii. I'm a clever cheerer too... not like these Nevada Wolfpack fans:
