My goodness, a horse is a horse is not an absolute rule. Of course a teams chemistry or volleyball IQ can overcome talent situationally. But 9 out ten nights, the athetes will win out. Talk to your favorite college coach about recruiting, its all about the athletes. Keep in mind, SCU and Tennnessee won matches with Barboza and Harmotto out injured. Do you think those players would have had some impact? You mention their wins over a weakened Stanford and PSU, but you leave out the fact they looked like little girls vs women at the FF. They couldn't even come close to hanging with the level of athlete that Neb. and Wash put on the floor.

OOOOOh. Overpass from Texas backrow, and Engle fake sets then HAMMERS it to the floor. 26-15 Actually this was a designed play, the last few points they had Engle setting across the frontrow and Moriarity passing in serve receive. SCU had no idea this was coming, nobody jumped with her and she hammered.. Which is also what they seemed to be doing against Washington late in game 5 at the AVCA Showcase. Very effective then as well as now. Must be nice to have a 6'3" setter sneaking around on the front row...

Convincing win for the Horns. In other Big XII news, Kansas is up 2 games to 0 against BYU That is quite interesting.

If that rule was true, wouldn't the Gators have a National Championship, or two, laying around.

I was at the game the scores do not do the match justice. Texas blew SC out plain and simple, very very surprising. The Long Island team from last week gave Texas the same type of game as SC did which was a shock. SC was out of system all night and had a ton of free balls coming back to UT's side, they never had an answer for the outside attacks. SC struggled with their passing throughout the match. Both teams served poorly in the early going...if Texas cuts it's unforced errors by a third they win every game by at least 15 points. PSU looks really, really good. Great blocking, very athletic...short setter, Acavedo and Hooker should bomb over her...we'll see how good the backrow play of PSU is. Should be a good match...I'd give the edge to PSU but not by much.

BIK, not sure you understand the quote you just gave a harumph to. The quote actually supports my theory. In essence they don't always win, but they do most of the time. Agreed, Florida has had great athletes, but if you look at the teams they have lost to at the FF, they had them as well. I have always thought Mary needs, to balance out raw athletes with a "player" or two.

I am not thinking Acavedo can bomb over her, that is not really Acavedo's type of play anyway. Giver her an opening she takes it or she makes a shot.
