Brianna Barry led the Seminoles with 11 kills.
"Florida State was able to regroup and come at us in the second and third games," said USC head coach Mick Haley. "I thought Asia had a good match and served extremely well. She reminds me of (former USC All-American) April Ross in that she's starting to come on strong with her serve." USC hit .295 for the match, including a game-high .393 (15-4-28) in game two while FSU hit .162 on the afternoon.
Both teams battled to a 16-16 tie in the first game. An attack error by FSU's Makini Thompson started a stretch of five straight points for the Women of Troy, cruising to the first game victory.
In the second game, Carico served an opening 5-0 stretch for the Women of Troy as USC raced to a 16-6 lead. FSU defensive specialist Summer Weissing got the Seminoles back in the mix with a service ace for a 5-0 run. The Seminoles cut the deficit to three at 21-18 before USC powered its way to a 2-0 lead in the match, thanks to three straight kills by Copenhagen,
Florida State had an early 6-3 lead in game three, but USC took the lead for good with a 5-0 run on the way to the team's fifth sweep this season.
