I have a feeling Cal will take Pepp to the cleaners 3-0.

Hawaii really needs Pepp to step up and win, therefore, Pepp in 4.

...I wish that were the case but don't count on a Pepp win...ain't gonna happen tonight....The coach isn't good in pressure situations meaning she doesn't adapt well under pressure....Offense too predictable....Only shining star is Milo.

I wouldn't count Pepperdine out, but Cal should be further along at this point in the season.

All Cal so far. Take G1 at 17 and up 10pts in G2.

She may be tiny, but that Angie Pressey is amazing. She's so much fun to watch. I can't believe she's already a junior and Sam Carter is a senior. I remember watching both play in high school and it doesn't seem like that long ago. I don't know if anyone remembers LaToya Harris from WSU a few years back, but she was a similar type player to Pressey. Great success in the Pac-10 and proving that size doesn't matter.

"and proving that size doesn't matter"
I am tempted, but I'll leave it.

And Pepp blows 7-1 lead and now trails 25-17
This one is over, looks like jordan was right.
How long until vbsamurai calls for Nina's head again?

Pepp off to a 7-1 lead, Timeout Cal Pep goes up 11-3 then Cal goes on a 17-3 run to take over the match again. Cal takes G3 at 19. Quite a thrashing for the big girls.

Sweep! This was a total destruction. Cal hits over .400, Pepperdine negative. Cutura and Pressey make for a pretty dynamic duo for Cal. They are gonna win a lot of matches this year. The Pac-10 is going to be ridiculous this year, I believe. You could finish 5th in the league and still be top 10 nationally.

Again on the size doesn't matter thing. Pepperdine, much like Texas, isn't a very good blocking team. 3 blocks tonight, Cal registers 13. Pressey herself, all 5'8" of her, has 4 blocks.

just got back from the match. Wheee! That Game 3 comeback was impressive...and we all thought Cal wasn't totally wonderful last nite, trying to mail in game 3...but they were firing on all cylinders tonite...
What Pressey and Cutura didn't do, Beck and Orchard did. Beck on all tourney team with Cutura and Carter(who dug and hit along with her superb setting). Pressey Tourney MVP. Pressey relatives in the crowd, Beck parents, Orchard parents, and various and sundry other relatives of all the players. Several local high school teams in attendance as well, they saw some really super play tonite by the Bears!
Beck is rounding out her game as a new middle just fine....
Fine evening in Berkeley for sports (altho a major league fog bank around all weekend...Indian summer due on Monday)...football team figured out what they were supposed to be doing...and the volleyball team swept! Lotsa fans running from one event to another...

I think the key to this one was the difference in attack errors. There were some nights where Cal was tentative and hit more balls out and into the block. Pepperdine's players weren't all that quick, and that helped Cal with their block. Even though Pepperdine had a tall lineup, they couldn't simply hit over Cal's block.
Even after Pepperdine took the 8-1 lead in game 3, there didn't seem to be any panic. They could have very well just written that one off. I don't know if Pepperdine is all that bad, but I would say it was a very bad night for them.
