Yenno, for all of those who critisized Boogaard last year, I hope you all put your foot in your mouth because now everyone can see how important it is to have a Boogaard-type player who can do all of the little things.
Yea she wasn't the best hitter ... but she could block, SET the second ball, play SOLID defense (despite her height) and was a steady passer who had great backrow instincts.
I understand she never became the All-American everyone thought she'd become, especially being the 10th best recruit in the nation coming out of high school, but sometimes the value of a player is more than scoring points, but making sure the points can be scored.
I'm just ranting ... but for three of her four years Boogaard was the subject to a lot of negative remarks.
Just thought I'd let that out./

Yes, Susie was a great passer, she is really missed on this year's team.
On the bright side the passing should be better next year with Liz Kaaihue and supposedly Aneli Otineru coming in.

that's great and all with the passing next year, but what about the blocking, hitting, serving and floor defense

Like I said with the new recruits the passing should be better. They just need to find a setter, but if KK does indeed redshirt, then setting won't be a problem either.

I've always been a big Susie Boogaard fan.
She was a solid-well-rounded-player. I would love to see her try AVP, with a decent partner.

The team does miss Boogaard's passing and defense. I think a lot of us overlooked her contributions and how important they were.
Like IB said I think Susie could do well on the beach with the right partner, maybe Victoria Prince. Actually I'd like to see Victoria with Lily or Sarah on the beach. Any combination of the two would probably make a pretty decent team.

I always defended Susie. She was my favorite Wahine for the last two years. My prior posts will support that. I believe I said at the end of last year, that the biggest loss to the team would be Boogaard. My mom looked at me like I was crazy. Tonight she asked me, "Don't we have a Boogaard on the bench?"

when shoji said susie was the best passer on the squad, she proved him right. even as a freshman, she was holding her own in the backrow. she was also the best outside blocker on the team.

You would think they'd have a "Boogard" on the bench... what with all the DS's on the roster ...

Boogaard was the type of player who needed to be on the floor at all times. She could do everything.

Yes, I can vouch for you. A few Hawai'i fans (yourself and IB included) would always come to Susie's defense when somebody would question her ability or complain about her play. Man, I wish she had another year of eligibility....sighs.
