Volleyball junior named Player of the Week
For the fourth time in her career, Nebraska's Sarah Pavan has been named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.
Pavan led NU to three wins in the Ameritas Players Challenge over the weekend, averaging 5.90 kills per game on .409 hitting percentage as the top-ranked Cornhuskers ran their record to 7-0.
In Friday night's sweep of Louisville, the 6-foot-5 junior from Kitchener, Ontario, pounded 18 kills and became the fastest Husker in school history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau.
On Sunday, Pavan helped NU overcome a game effort from Minnesota by recording her first double-double of the season. Pavan had 23 kills and 11 digs in the Huskers' 3-1 win.
For her efforts, Pavan, the 2005 Big 12 Player of the Year, also was named Most Valuable Player of the Ameritas Players Challenge.
