Soto still played 2 years after Rivera was done... It is just that Angel let the bucks to the top spot in the conference...

wasn't IPFW Ptak last year? No offense, but I was surprised by that one, I mean he was an awesome jumper and the only one who really lighted up the court on the IPFW team, but he sure belted a good number of those balls off the back walls. Anyone out there have his year end stats? I didn't notice anything special about PTAK besides his jumping to the ceiling and his amazing abs. well.......I might have given him the award for the abs....they were the only reason we'd travel to see IPFW last year haha

Last year, Ptak ended up avg. 5.18 kills, .71 blocks, .27 aces and 1.23 digs and hit .316. IMHO, Matty who last year had, 4.51 kills, .91 blocks, .21 aces and 1.71 digs and hit .354 had a just as good a year as Ptak did.... wasn't IPFW Ptak last year? No offense, but I was surprised by that one, I mean he was an awesome jumper and the only one who really lighted up the court on the IPFW team, but he sure belted a good number of those balls off the back walls. I think that Davis or Schnor from Loyola should have that award on their mantle instead of Ptak.

Just look at the numbers... Schnor had 4.53 kills, .33 aces, etc... Davis is a more debatable player but remember POY not MVP... I think that Davis or Schnor from Loyola should have that award on their mantle instead of Ptak.

Well one piece of this puzzle is in place ... if Ball State and IPFW are tied for first place, Ball State wins the tie break.

One thing to note, the Ohio State-Findlay match tonight was not a conference match. Otherwise, that match too could have changed the standings as well. As it holds, IPFW and BSU are tied at 8-2, and Lewis will end the week 8-3 and OSU at 7-3. Right behind is Loyola-Chicago at 8-4 - it defeated Springfield in four tonight 31-29, 17-30, 30-27, 33-31. Loyola plays Harvard tomorrow.

Why wasn't it a conference match?

The match was scheduled as a promotional event to promote boys volleyball in the state of Ohio. The match was played at Tri-Village High School in New Madison. This is the second year in a row the two schools have played such a non-conference match. The match is played at one of the team member's former high school. This year was Findlay's turn to have a player's alum host the event, and Jeff Overfeld is a grad of Tri-Village. Next week the two teams play their second "counting" MIVA match at Findlay

Ok! Too bad for Findlay, they finally beat OSU and it doesn't even count.

At least it counts in the overall record.

Last I heard, from his dad, he is still rehabbing (sp?) his knee that he had surgery on this past fall. I'm sure he'll be playing somewhere professionally soon.
