starbulletin.com/2006/09/20/sports/hawaiibeat.htmlFormer Pepperdine All-American Scott Wong officially joined the staff of the Hawaii women's volleyball team yesterday as a volunteer assistant. "I knew I was coming back to live here and wanted to be a part of this program," said Wong, who stepped down as an assistant with the Pepperdine men's team in July. Wong, an all-state player for Punahou in volleyball and basketball, said he plans to return to the AVP pro beach tour in March, "but until then, I hopefully can contribute to this program," he said. "I'd love to coach collegiate in the future but I want to play (beach) a little longer." "Scott is an outstanding, knowledgeable young coach who has played at the highest level and won," Rainbow Wahine coach Dave Shoji said. Wong will not travel with the team. No. 15 Hawaii opens its 11th season in the Western Athletic Conference on Saturday with a home match against Fresno State at 7 p.m. Scott Wong was an assistant to Marv Dunphy and the Pepperdine men the past two seasons.

Yeah, just what they need right now, another walk-on cluttering up the place.
Too many cooks spoil the haupia.

Well at least someone can help the Wahine backrow with service reception.
What's the difference between Wong's role to that of Hedder Ilustre and Melissa Villaroman the past two seasons?
