Wow. Hawaii will be crowded next year since only three players will graduate. Maybe a couple of walk-ons will walk off. There's just no more room.

what hawaii needs as a great recruit is another player that has bown and angelica skills. A real soild middle. Nothing to knock prince...she was an outstanding player but not in the same catergory as the above mentioned players.

Very true. In ways, it is completely unfair to compare Otineru with other elite players. There are only a handful of elite outside hitters in the nation. Unfortunately, with the possibility that Klineman may commit to Hawaii, Otineru will be compared to Klineman. Roy, I think that problem can easily be alleviated if fans saw how she played with JoAnna (now Asia) Kaczor at CSI...instead of comparing to Klineman, think more of how they can compliment each other. At CSI, Kaczor and Aneli both play very different style of vball, yet, their differences is what made the team. (Well, that and shady dealings and participation in Polish pro vball..LOL) Kaczor was all power, Aneli was a game of power and smarts. Very different styles, but they arrived at similar results. Aneli trailed Kaczor in hitting % and kill totals, but not by much. Ask Kaczor today and she has nothing but praise for Aneli's game. I suspect that if Klineman and Aneli played for Hawaii next year, you can probably expect to see the same thing, PLUS, and this is a BIG PLUS - you'll have two players that can PASS. Tall players that can hit but can't pass or play defense are useless and that is evident all over the NCAA.

I think what you meant to say was Hawaii needs to recruit a middle that has Bown/Ljundquist's height as well as their skills. If we're just talking skills, Victoria is just as good as those two in my opinion. She had great blocking technique and is the best slide hitter Hawaii has ever had. I think Heather and Ange hit the ball harder, having seen both, but Prince was faster, thus making her slide move more effective, and that was with opposing team's blockers keying on her. Let's not forget she is the only player in Hawaii history to hit over .400 in consecutive seasons. If Victoria had been 6-2 instead of 5-10, she probably would've broken all of Hawaii's single season blocking statistics. But back to the post, yes Hawaii does need to recruit a middle blocker who has height and can use it. I really thought Nickie Thomas would be that player. Hopefully she'll recover completely and we'll be able to see what she can really do next year.
