No...ASU is looking very strong this year. Have always had the talent, and now have the coaching

Wow ! Arizona State is looking like a new team this year. Looks like this may be the break out year at ASU. Looking impressive in pre-season winning some top rated teams. Why does Oregon always seem to schedule such a cake walk in pre-season? Doesn't that hurt them when it comes to the playing strong opponents during regular season. They have already lost their first two games.

Dave Rubio really isn't looking too good at this point. Last year probably got people off his back, but they are struggling now, even with Dosty. I know they have had some injuries, but they really need to stay ahead of ASU in the pecking order. This match wasn't competitive last year.

Wow. This result really surprises me. I saw ASU get swept at Ohio State and was totally unimpressed with them, especially since I feel that OSU is overrated. While ASU played decent defensively, they really struggled with their attack and just didn't seem to have many weapons.

ok, as much as i hate to see UA lose to ASU, this was the worse match in history. Please look at the stats. There were more hitting errors in this match then most high school games. I thought it would of been a good match with the rivalries of ASU and UA, but honestly, I was so disappointed with the play. Both of these teams will be a joke when they compete against the pac-10 powerhouses. UA is obviously in a rebuilding year so hang in their Dave. Anytime a freshman who has like 2 years of vb experience and is a dancer their whole life is there go to hitter, you are definitely in your rebuilding year. And ASU, wow. the good thing for them is they finally won a big pac10 match. You take what you can in the Pac. But that was ugly. The only thing they beat UA at was service aces. I think the hit less then .90 and UA did better. I thought it was exciting to watch because of the atmosphere. But as far as level of play. JOKE! You'll see the true colors of these teams next weekend when they play Cal and Stanford. And after seeing that match last night, I will be the 1st to admit, this is the worse Pac-10 group. They are not the best over-all conference, maybe. I hope I can go back on that, but what I saw, it was bad vb.
and no ASU does not have a new coach. It's the same retard Brad Saindon. But his assistant is really doing it all I heard. He is the reason for the big turn around. His name is Mike Wall and I guess he runs Gold Medal Square.

I admit the game last night was not pretty, but ASU did pull it out. I did get a chance to see them play this past weekend where they did beat Notre Dame and ASU looked very strong. They also went to 5 with Duke and ASU did look like the stronger team. I am a UCLA fan, but think ASU will be strong this season.

landon 50 For one thing you contridicted yourself in your post. "He is the reason for the big turn around". And "the worse match ever". Obviously you are a UA fan and were obviously at the game.
Only looking at their stats from last night does NOT reflect where ASU will be this season. I agree the stats were not good, but sometimes, unfortunately, you play down to your competition, and ASU did last night Looking at the stats in pre-season against some very good teams DOES reflect how ASU will be doing this year. Oregon State, Oregon, and WSU will be teams that will struggle this year in the Pac-10. Unlike Oregon, OSU and WSU, ASU actually played strong teams in pre-season.

Yeah, I was looking over the stats, Arizona had 21 blocks. UA had more kills, same in digs, more assists, more blocks but still lost. The only catagory that ASU beat them in was aces, they had 6 more that AU. But 8 less blocks than AU. How did they win? AU only had 2 more hitting errors than ASU. This really baffled me.

Whom ever was keepin track of stats was either padding the stats for UA or just didn't know how to count a real block.

obviously i am a ua fan, and i said that. but i also enjoy good vb. maybe asu did play down, but to be great in the pac, you can afford to play down. if you look at that stats, you can't figure out why or how asu won. and if you were there, you can clearly see it was bad vb. i saw a lot of asu matches last year, and they are way better. and i saw a ton of UA matches last year, and they are way worse. bottom line, this match-up last night was not a a match to figure out who was going to upset any top pac-10 teams. it give me a better idea that UA may come in 8th and asu in 6th or 7th. if they play their best. hey, if it can't be my wildcats, i love to see another arizona team succeed. How's NAU this season?
