Don't recall all the scores, but something like 30-28, 20-30, 30-19, 30-26. Now that I looked at the score, my memory is correct.
It was eerily like the first two games against Pacific, only Cal had a mad rush at the end to take game 1. Arizona State never seems to give up in the back row.
Hana Cutura didn't play. Cat Dailey started for the first time and took a while to get in the groove. Now I know why she was so highly regarded. She just refuses to stop competing.

I noticed on gametracker that Cutura was not playing. Was she injured, or any reason given for her absence?

I noticed on gametracker that Cutura was not playing. Was she injured, or any reason given for her absence? Let's just say she looked to be injured, but I'm not going to get specific unless it's made public. She sat on the bench while her teammates who weren't playing were standing. She did take a few swings in warmups, but for the most part rested on the bench. I held off on saying that Cat Dailey's finger was broken until it was mentioned in a Cal media release.

C'mon BC! You know no one reads the posts on VT. OK - a finger in Cat Dailey's left hand was broken in practice before the season started. Wait a minute - that's already been reported.

Heard from a friend that she has a stress fracture. She has been seen wearing one of the boots. I think she was wearing in tonight. Why would one keep an injury a secert?

I don't know if it's federal or California state law, but there's some prohibition against athletic programs publicly detailing injuries without the athlete's permission. I'm not really held to it (I'm not part of the athletic dept) but I tend to keep injuries of Cal players to myself unless they otherwise become public (and I know that the athlete has allowed that info to be released). For all those who questioned her quickness/athleticism over the past few weeks - it's pretty obvious now that Hana has been playing through injuries.

I still remember Jerkov's first season where she played well in the first half of the season and then sidelined due to injury.

It's probably something where a little bit of rest will help get her back this season. While she showed signs of being really good, she may even be better next season after getting used to an NCAA style of play and a lots of rest on that foot. In the meanwhile, Cat Dailey looks just fine. Mia's problem was tendinitis in her ankles. She was playing through it through on her national team before arriving at Cal. Eventually the coaching staff elected to play her back row only (where she was quite good) until they shut her down completely and let her rest it.

I was looking for some info, and came across this from over a month ago: www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/sports/colleges/saint_marys_college_california/15348763.htmOf course I saw Mindi Wiley and Cat Dailey with casts on their hands. They even showed up in some of the photos I took and displayed. Cat Dailey is playing with a small splint on her finger. Mindi is no longer wearing the cast and should be on schedule to come back. I've seen her hit a few times in warmups, and she is impressive. She might not be want to block right now though.

Cal was never thought of as a team who had a great depth. That now seems to be a misconception when seeing how many injuries they have had and at the same time have had no trouble backfilling those positions. Dailey did an amazing job filling in for Cutura and Beck in the middle seems to be a strong plus for the team.
