Is Megan Bower at the libero position instead of Hance? I would guess... Bower has 11 digs, Hance has 3. But I'm not familiar enough with either to recognize them Bower is about 6'2", and Hance is about 5'7". :-)

I do remember the announcers saying that Michigan switched libero's in game two...

Michigan's backcourt defense is not a strength.

Berkeley ace, 16-4 Michigan... Apparently Michigan doesn't want to show up in the 3rd game.
Timeout UM

Badgers hit .374% for the match, led by Dolgner w/11k, only .172%, 9 digs, 4 blocks. Carlini has 9 kills, hitting .529%, Reineke with 4 kills, .364, 10 blocks, Bladow w/10k, 4 blocks, hitting .471. Wack with 16 digs. Simpson with 35 assists, 6 digs, 3 blocks, 5 kills, hitting .714%. Michigan led by Katie B with 14k, .324%. UW outblocks Michigan 14-1, outkills 46-40, outhits .374 - .134, and outdigs 46-39. Now the going gets tough for UW... in four of their next five matches they play great teams - OSU, PSU, Purdue, and Minnesota - with Indiana thrown in there too. OSU/PSU/Minnesota are on the road, and Purdue is at home. Should be interesting and make for a shake-up in the big ten standings. Before this weekend I thought the Badgers had a 0-5% chance to beat PSU at PSU... I now up that to a 15-20% chance

The Badgers looked really good tonight, and Michigan didn't look very good at all. The Wolverines just weren't able to get into system much in the last game and a half. Berkley and Mills served huge scoring runs in the last game, when pretty much everything seemed to go the Badgers' way. I think it was 27-11 at one point. The Badger block was really strong from about the middle of the first game onward. I think Reineke had ten blocks, and the Badgers were even getting touches and soft blocks the few times they only had one blocker up. The Badgers also made some impressive saves on defense, which got the pretty big crowd involved.
Offensively, Simpson is playing much better than she was earlier in the season. Michigan only had one block for the match, and she was able to spread the ball around. Bladow had another good match, which really makes the Badgers tough to stop. Jeffers got dug a lot tonight, but she is looking healthier and more in rhythm, hitting from a higher point of contact than she was earlier in the season. Carlini had another good match, with nine kills and eight digs even though Mills played back row for her in the last game and some of the second game. Wack had a lot of digs early in the match, making things tough on Michigan even when the Badger block wasn't dominating. The only negative for the Badgers is that Dolgner again struggled a bit. She had some nice kills and added a tip down the line that I hadn't seen from her before to avoid set blocks, but she also had a few errors and wasn't great in serve receive, leading the Badgers to shield her at times. I also hope she can get her jump serve back; she didn't use it after missing the first one. I have a feeling the Badgers will probably need that weapon next weekend. On the good side, she played pretty well defensively and made adjustments on the block as the match went on, finishing with four blocks, I think. All in all, it was an impressive showing for the Badgers.
Michigan, on the other hand, didn't look good. Bruzdzinski had a nice match, but that was about it. The block wasn't much of a factor, and their passing was poor. Bower played libero in the last two games, with Hance at DS, but she also struggled and got pulled a couple of times. Miller hit left side and a few slides from the right, but the Badgers were able to slow her down on that as the night went on. Penn also found things tough after a good start. The Wolverines also didn't help themselves with some service errors in the first game, and Selsky mi%*$# an overpass off a Bruzdzinski rocket serve when it was 16-14 Wisconsin in the second game. That was a big turning point in that game and the match. Michigan has some talent, but they really need to regain confidence, which the 0-4 start in the conference has to have shaken.
Wisconsin is really playing better than they did earlier in the year, so I do think they are capable of winning all the tough upcoming matches, even at PSU. That would be difficult, but they come into the toughest road trip of the year on a high note. In response to the earlier question, Bladow's hair is short and brown with maybe a reddish tint. Nothing too extreme for her at the moment, but Halloween is only a month or so away. It is good to see her playing well after she was mostly on the bench the last two seasons. I think Dykstra has a lot of potential, but Bladow is better now.
