great effort by everyone. delano thomas went off tonight. 20 plus kills...and did anyone notice that he looked much more entusiastic? he celebrated every kill...did not have his usual stoic expression. i think he's catching on to that "emotional" aspect that came out with the reserves. maulia's presence in the middle really helped. pedro came in and fired some great serves. shaun dyk was really good...he has a lot of power. seidu ajanako and shamsu awudu were also very impressive. even though ajanako's knee was hurt he didn't play like it. if cal baptist does become a DIV 2 school and joins the MPSF, they will give the teams a run for their money if they can get the same quality of players under D2 rules. NAIA rules are looser.

Wilton is back to the drawing board for a line up. This time, its a good thing. The chemistry for the team feels really unstable but better than it was earlier in the year. The addition of Bender, Woodward, and Tuyay, along with Arri on the bench, made the other players really hustle as well. Hawaii is finding a nice combination of backrow defense and a solid block.
Thomas was not as stoic as he usually was. He seemed to celebrate and enjoy the time on the court. He looked like he was having fun and it made everyone else seem to have fun. With the knowledge that he may be yanked at any time, it seems that he has a new drive to play.
Wilton is using his depth to his advantage. Azenha did a really nice job as a serving specialist. He wants his job back and he is fighting for it. But Bender is bringing a lot to the table right now. His hitting is really good, and he puts up a nice block and plays some great back row. Either player could be in the starting line up.

I wonder if Wilton has ever thought about putting in BOTH Pedro and Matt at the same time???
It wouldnt hurt to put in a better server and a 6-7 blocker on either side(L/R).........would it???

putting pedro and matt in could get explosive. they both bring so much emotion...it may be too much.

I don't think you could do that. While it brings a lot of great offensive output, putting both in would mean taking out one of the outside hitters. Thomas is too good to pull out, unless he is having an off night. But the second outside position is reserved for a primary passer. Neither Bender or Azenha are strong passers. So, it wouldn't be very advantageous to do that.
