Now that Toshi has taken over for Arie at Pioneer is there any word of Toshi trying to sign some American players. I heard they were in negotiation with Haneef, do you think that is a result of Takefuji signing Artamonova.
I guess things did not work out as Haneef and some other of her college teammates have likewise signed in Russia. Do you know if any of these players are playing with Uralochka? I was also wondeing of Chachkova was playing for Moskova this year or if she has retired? I cannot seem to find this information.

I don't know much about the Japanese leagues. Haneef has played over there for a few years now, but this year she will play in Russia with Kazan along side another American Teresa Crawford.
Chachkova now uses the name Kilic in club play and Sokolova in the Russian national team. She will play with Groupo 2002 Murcia in Spain.
Is Artamanova returing to Japan this year? She has been injured to the point of inactivity and would be a major risk in Japan...
Uralochka hasn't released a roster that I have seen for this year. I don't recall any Americans transfering there though.

No Americans in Uralochka. Rumor has it the Cubans will be back. They also got a couple of young players, one from Turkey and one from Croatia, training with them. The Turk left in dispute with her club so I am not sure if she will play this year or not. Per FIVB rules, she should not be able to until this is resolved with her club.
Toshi did indeed talk to some Americans about playing for his club but it did not happen (yet??)...
I agree with Murina that signing Artamonova at this point would be a huge risk since she's been oft injured recently.

Thanks for your help! I was incorrect I was thinking about Gratcheva not Kilic. Is she still playing? I saw her team play Novara last year and she is still very capable setter. Is she still playing with Moskova?

I think Grachova will play with Dinamo again. At least I don't remember hearing anything to the contrary. I've even heard talk of her joining the national team again with Akulova's knee injury - but I seriously doubt that it will happen.

I do not follow the international pro leagues at all, but would like to know roughly if there are a lot of american women players. Are there more on the men's side? Thank you.

That's a rather vague question... I would guess that there are 100-200 american women playing overseas, maybe a few more. Most aren't making much money. I don't know as much on the men's side, but since there are only a few mens teams in the US, I would think that the numbers playing over seas would be a little smaller. Of course men are more likely to stay if they go, so that might even up the numbers... Would you call that roughly a lot?

Here is a small list of Americans playing internationally. Don't remember all the names of the teams or who's playing where specifically, but this should give you an idea of who's overseas.
Danielle Scott- Brazil Superliga Lily Kahumoko-Italy Stacy Sykora- Hotel Cantur Spain Kim Willoughby-Murcia Spain Logan Tom- SparTenerife Spain Robyn Ah Mow- Volero Zurich Kim Glass- Puerto Rico Tayibba Haneef-Russia Lindsay Berg- Scavolini Italy Heather Bown-Italy? Elisha Thomas-Russia Patrice Arrington? Brittany Hochevar-Russia Katie Olsovsky-Poland or Turkey? Jennifer Joines-Italy Ogonna Namani- (could never spell her name)Puerto Rico Lindsay Phillips-Puerto Rico Jen Abernathy-Puerto Rico Nancy Metcalf-Puerto Rico or Turkey Escasibasi(not sure) Benishe Dillard-Roberts- Murcia Spain Charnette Fair-France?
Just a small list hope this will help you. Like Murina said, there are hundreds of players.
Perhaps you should ask how many professionals are playing in US college volleyball ;D

Lily's playing for ... shoot... altamura?
Is Aury considered American? She is also at altamura, italy.
I understand that these players will also be in Spain this year: Sherisa Livingston (Wisconsin) Cheryl Weaver (LBSU) Jen Hoffman
and, although she's not American, Lena Usteyminko (Louisville)

Kim Willoughby just signed with an Italian team, Santeramo.
Again, even though they are not Americans, former Rice standouts, the Pazo twins will also be in Spain this year.
There could (will) be more Americans in Russia and possibly Turkey than it's been yet announced.

About Kim.....Is she still going back to Puerto Rico and what happened to Spain?
Is there any chance she will play on the US team for the Olympics?

I believe Spain was a temporary deal to start with. Murcia is already loaded but most of its players get there late November and their league has already started. I really can't see Santeramo signing her for half season so I expect she is not going back to P/R.
On a side note, I know there're quite a few American players in German league as well though I can't list names top of my head...
