Andrew Pink, a 6-4 junior outside hitter for Rutgers-Newark (13-8, 9-2 EIVA Tait), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. Pink led Rutgers-Newark to key back-to-back EIVA Tait 3-1 wins against eighth-ranked Penn State and top-ranked Division III Juniata. It was the Scarlet Raiders' first win over Penn State since Feb. 14, 1998 and the first four-game victory over the Nittany Lions since Feb. 13, 1988. Pink followed a 22-kill, seven-dig performance against PSU with the first 30-kill match of his career, hitting .511 with eight digs and two service aces as the Scarlet Raiders locked up no worse than a second-place finish in the conference by downing Juniata. He averaged 7.13 points, 6.50 kills, 1.88 digs and hit .476 for the week. The Rutgers-Newark head coach is Sean Byron.
