Why haven't there been more posts about Jordan Larson? Before coming into last season people were touting her as the next coming of Logan Tom and that she was hands down FOY. Now she seems to have faded into just another player, with all the focus on the Stanford, Penn. State, Texas hitters. Is Larson a legitmate candidate for All-American honors this season? Don't know if the opinion of a Husker fan means anything, but I certainly would be surprised if she wasn't AA this year. Her number's after 15 matches this year are: 4.31 k/g; .290 k%; 3.77 dig/g; .62 ace/g; .60 blk/g. I think it would help if her hitting% gets back up over .300. She leads the team in digs/game and aces and is second only to Pavan in kills/game. She has like 7 double/doubles in a row right now, with only Jen S. doing 7 once for a Husker since 2000. Her serve ace/error ratio is not too bad with 30-32 with a lot of out of system problems for the other teams when she's serving. All in all, she should be in the running for AA honors.

I think Gates days on the court are numbered unless something major league improves in her game. The same thing could have been said about Houghtelling midway through her 2nd year at Nebraska. You may be right however Gates is not in the same league athletically as Houghtelling. I worry about Gate's body language when she either doesn't start or gets taken out. After watching her play in HS it's a different persona I see from her. Of course it's different to go from being the star of your team and then not playing very much. Houghtelling although struggling at times had moments of awe in her sophomore campaign. In attending almost all of the Husker home matches I can't say that I've seen that from Gates as of yet.

Yes, it was obvious when Houghtelling was a freshman that she had tons of athletic ability. She was just inexperienced. And not 100% healthy.
I doubt the same (athletic ability) could be said about Gates. At this point there doesn't appear to be a similar potential for improvement.

oh and cooper has been hitting a nice % as of late...and she puts up a huge block .68 blocks/game is a huge block? If you had Cooper's offense and Gates's blocking, then Nebraska would be set at middle. As it is, one blocks well, the other hits well, neither does both well at this point in their careers though both certainly have the talent to develop into solid middles. I think you are way off if you think those 2 would find their way starting in any starting lineup outside of PSU, USC and Washington. They would not be starting at Florida. not a very true stat due to her playing time. she was splitting time at first and would get in for one or two rotations is a game. so there is going to be a dip. but if you look at when she has played the entire game, her numbers are really good

texas22 you are correct Stalls is playing well but you must be drinking texas moonshine if you think the other two could start for most teams. They are starting at Nebraska out of necessity. I have seen the other two middles play. Good kids, work hard but when they get matched up against a team that has great passing and a couple of big time hitters they will have problems. Of course this probably won't happen until deep into the NCAA Tournament. cooper and gates could probably find their way into anyones starting line up besides penn state, washington, and USC. Actually, USC is not extremely strong out of the middle. The M2 position could be a lot more productive. Anyhow, Cooper and Gates would also not start at Texas. I think people will start talking about Larson as an All-American once Nebraska gets the big wins. They've trounced most their opponents so far, but they are expected to. Let's see how Larson holds up against Missouri and Texas first.

Pavan looks like she is on a mission down in Columbia.

In Game 1, when Pavan was serving, the Mizzou fans at that end of the court were chanting USA, USA, USA . . . Do you think any of them see the irony in what they are saying?
Also, someone at Fox needs to remind the color guy that the broadcast is being carried beyond the state of Missouri. He is constantly making "homeristic" comments ("We can still get back in this match", etc.). In his defense, I get the impression that he might not have lots of experience in the broadcasting field.

It is absurd for Mizzou to chant USA, USA, their team is Chinese.
