Right. But I'm not talking about them not playing to their potential. I'm saying they've screwed up the rankings. (R)uffda!, I don't really understand your obsession with the rankings....The AVCA poll does not influence the NCAA tourney pairings. C'mon, you should know this by now. It's something to talk about. I find it interesting. Perception, by the way, is still important -- rankings aside.

Why have the rankings if there is no point to them BiK? Well - the AP said that their football/basketball rankings were meant to help foster fan interest. That was the explanation at the time they gave a cease and desist letter to the BCS for "unauthorized" use of their copyrighted poll information, where they used voter points in their formula.

Well I used to feel the same way you do....untill I realized (as a Wahine fan) that the perception of voting coaches mean little to the Womens Volleyball Championship Committee.

Not just the perception of the voting coaches. The perception of the fans. I don't think it's an accurate picture of the overall quality of the teams.
That is all.
Is the Pac10 the top conference? Without a doubt. But I'll say it again and again and again: The gap is not that big.

That's a misleading statement. The national title is not the be all and end all. Do you really think it is? Do you think the gap between the Pac10 and Hawaii is HUGE?

Yes, certain PAC 10 teams over the past few years (Stanford and USC). A National title is "THE" end all of all discussions. There's no arguing with that, UNLESS, that PAC 10 team had a 30 year old pro on the roster. Take Penn State for example, is all those BIG 10 titles meaningful? probably not.

Certain Pac10 teams is right, sort of. So that extrapolates to the entire conference how?
And I'll never agree about the National Title argument. That makes too many great teams losers, which they are not.

And I'll never agree about the National Title argument. That makes too many great teams losers, which they are not. They're not losers...just not the "Champions".

But do you have to be a champion to be a great team? Heck, a good team? The implication is that if one Pac10 team doesn't do it, there are 5-6 others lined up to win it.
The gap is not that big...

Why have the rankings if there is no point to them BiK? So all of us have something to b#@$ or feel good about. The AVCA Poll is purely a pissing contest. The final ranking is the only ranking worth getting excited about. So why ya pickin on poor lil (R)uffda! for doing that b#@$ing stuff you're talking about? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

very interesting indeed it's good to know that that is the way of thin king of the ppl outside of the west hahaha no wonder the teams in that part of the country are losers here is how champions think championship titles are the only thing that matters and champions are never satisfied of just 3 titles or to be just 'good'
this way of thinking is what separates the great teams from 'good' teams and losers great teams = champs 'good' " = have to have legit competitions and always on the brink of becoming champs losers = 'good' teams that are very satisfied about being 'good' w/o legit competitions of more than half the total teams in their particular league = nubraska florida psu osu wisconsin miniesoota and the rest of the non western teams that i've mentioned b4 yes this means that too many teams (not great teams just regular teams) are losers indeed this also means that the gap w/in the pac10 is not that big but it is xtremely big if other conferences (again)outside the west is compared to the pac10 why do ye think that only 7natl titles out of 20 or 25 (i forgot the #s) are non pac10 natl titles since the ncaa tourney was established and out of the 7natl titles only 3 of those are from non western teams(w/c was won against non pac10 teams) there seems to be a pattern here pac10 = champs and teams that won the titles won it w/o playing against the pac10 teams in the finals we all know that those teams would've never won the titles if they played the pac10 teams in the finals remember folks the 1st step is the hardest step to take because denial is always best when dealing w/adversity and the truth denial is also the best 'weapon' of choice by losers

Samurai, I think you should do a little reading about usability and the internet. People like to scan quickly and move on. I read your first post somewhere...maybe the second but now I just scroll past. I think your idea is cool but I don't have time to figure it out. You may find that your important comment is getting skipped.............I'm sure whatever you said above is relevant!

They're a big team. Nina recruits pretty well. However - they have an insane non-conference schedule and they can no longer beat up on a hapless West Coast Conference. Yeah - I'd say they were a huge dissapointment this season. I don't think that Nina recruits these kids, PEPPERDINE recuits these kids.....just look to the S/W from campus.....that sells to many of their prospective recruits....education is nothing exceptional by a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng shot.....how do they say it in real estate, its location, location, location!
