Given UH's loss to NMSU over the weekend and Stanford's wins over USC and UCLA (someone said she was at both games), this should be a no brainer.

In my experience, when a player has gotten to the point of 4-5 schools, how they are doing in their season, or at a match they are at, has little or no bearing on her decision. She obvioulsy has determined through her research that these schools are top flite volleyball, the decision will come down to her experience on campus, with players, people etc... She saw Texas fall apart on her visit, but was at the OSU game, where I am sure it was an amazing weekend to be at the UT campus. When kids get down to this point it is about connections with people, and comfort not volleyball. She knows she can play anywhere, she knows she will make whatever team better. The decision will be made with her heart and her gut at this point. I will say that a 6.6 earthquake probably doesn't work in Hawaii's favor.

Silly, as if earthquakes will have anything to do with her decision. Palo Alto is a lot more likely to be hit by a major earthquake than Honolulu.

obviously it was silly. I do like the Ed Rendell avatar. Why do you have it?

It can't help Hawaii that her visit to the islands was soooo long ago. It may seem like a distant memory to her.

There are alot of people who think the first visit is the most important, some think the last.

Didn't she visit Texas first? She visited Hawaii first, then Texas the next week. I've heard that she's since visited Washington. As for the Ed Rendell avatar, well in my "other life" I used to work under him while he was chairman of the DNC, before he became governor. If you remember he was on TV a lot during the whole 2000 election season. Great guy, dynamic leader, I donated to his campaign, although frankly it looks like he's going to win in a landslide.

I believe she did. I think kids do their homework and widdle it down to 4-5 and than choose the place they "fit" best "personally" given what Pavan was looking for, Stanford was a slam dunk, in the end she related more with the Nebraska group. Not saying they are a better group, just people she found herself to be more similar with. I still think that is Hawaii's biggest challenge, not so with Klineman, but in general. If I were a kid in Pgh who went on a visit to Hawaii, I would fall in love with the place, but when push came to shove would probably say, "the culture is so much different, i'm not sure I fit in right" Just as I am sure a kid who visited Villanova may feel the same way. I am sure somone from Hawaii will take that as a personal attack, but it is not intended that way.

Some girls look for the familiar, but some want also want to explore, live in an environment different from what they've experienced their entire life, or just want to get as far away from home as possible (to exercise their independence or for whatever reason). I guess we're all wondering what Alix will decide and I'm sure there'll be some speculation after her decision is made as to why she chose the school she chose. I just hope she gets to make her own choice.

True, Keystone, it depends on what the person is looking for. Some only want what they already know and others are looking to learn more about other cultures and explore the world.

I happen to have first hand knowledge of Alix's thoughts and decision-making processes and you would be surprised to know she uses an elaborate grid system, allocating points (to the last decimal) based on good wins and bad losses, multiplied by a coefficient that is a function of how the football team is doing. Needless to say, Stanford is dropping fast. One can only hope for a new coach for the Cardinal football team next year, if not for Alix's sake, for future volleyball prospects who may utilize Alix's grid system.

I really wish something starnge would happen and she'd go to some small school, the majority of people on this board would just go insane and it would be hilarious.
