According to the digital collegian Yantz is returning to the lineup from a injury. She has been out this past month due to a shoulder injury. It looks like PSU tried a 6/2 this past weekend a bit now that Yantz is cleared to play. It said he was not surewhat his best use of personal is? still question marks with the setting he tried to make a change than the other team scored points so they were forced back to do what they were doing.Rose was unsure whether he would use a 5/1 or 6/2 this weekend.

Tough call, but if they do go back to a 6-2, i'm sure that they will be adjusted by the time of the tourney. I think they are head and shoulders above the rest of the Big Ten, and that even if they struggle a little with the transition, they will still get all the kinks worked out by December.

That would be an incredibly risky move. I still think it's hard enough to win with one frosh setter. With two? It would be testament to the talent of the squad if they could pull it off (a trip to the finals).

While the thought of PSU improving is daunting, I hope they find a way to use Yanz. It would be a shame to see her talent wasted.
What's the status of Holloway? Will she find any playing time (this year or the next two years) behind Hodge and Fawcett? Will she be content as a role player? Any chance she will transfer?

Holloway will probably sit the rest of her career if she stays at PSU...you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that. I'm betting also that Glass has won the setting job, and Yanz won't see much playing time either. I doubt Holloway would leave at this point, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Yanz say adios to Happy Valley. And who could blame her??

If you are undefeated and have dropped one game in conference, I think this is a classic "don't fix what isn't broken" situation. I don't think Holloway will be playing much unless there is an injury, since she is already behind three very good outsides. Yanz also might be a backup long term. Unless you love being at PSU, that might be a reason to transfer. If they are happy, though, they can stay and provide some great depth.

Yeah, and they also played Lehigh in the preseason.

Plus they went 5 with both Texas and LSU. They've been better with a 5-1.

If they run a 6-2, besides Hodge and Fawcett, who are your other 2 OHs or OPPs?

If they run a 6-2, besides Hodge and Fawcett, who are your other 2 OHs or OPPs? Oh they have a wealth of hitters. The 6-2 would actually make a lot of sense for PSU since they want to get these talented hitters on the court. It's the consistency of setting that's the issue. I've been a proponent of Kate Price staying on the court full-time mainly for serve receive duties (because I think Hodge should not be passing). So therefore, add Kate Price. Keep Sayler. Fawcett can be subbed out for one of the setters.

Except you don't get Kate Price full-time in a 6-2. You could, however, in a 5-1. But then you don't use Sayler.
A 6-2 keeps more kids happy. A 5-1 will make for a better team?

Well, you could keep Kate on the LS, so that she plays defense all the way around but let her hit from the RS depending on who is in the front row. I know that Hodge is also versatile and could hit RS if she and Fawcett were in the front row together and would move to the left with Price and Salyer on the RS.

I only ask because I think she should transfer to Illinois - she would have a much better chance of finding playing time there
