Well, you could keep Kate on the LS, so that she plays defense all the way around but let her hit from the RS depending on who is in the front row. I know that Hodge is also versatile and could hit RS if she and Fawcett were in the front row together and would move to the left with Price and Salyer on the RS. You could, but PSU's biggest strength is having Hodge and Fawcett opposite each other -- so one is always in the front row banging away. Price at opposite also makes serve receive less complicated.

Halloway could start on the OH for many, many teams.

Except you don't get Kate Price full-time in a 6-2. You could, however, in a 5-1. But then you don't use Sayler. A 6-2 keeps more kids happy. A 5-1 will make for a better team? Yeah, I meant what cbrown was explaining. Place Kate Price at OH opposite of Hodge and stay in full time. There would be one rotation where neither Hodge nor Fawcett would be in the front row, but since there are still 3 hitters in the front (and probably ones that aren't too shabby either), it wouldn't be a big liability. Anyhow, I'm actually against the 6-2 for chemistry sake. But I feel that Kate Price and Holehouse should be 2 of the primary passers. PSU could sub in other DSs that can pass, but I think it's better having something a bit more constant to rely on.

Price at opposite and Holehouse at libero takes care of what you're asking for, right? And better than a 6-2?
It comes down to this: Is whatever Sayler gives you enough to make up for whatever the 6-2 takes away? 'Cuz I don't see any other reason to use it.

Darnitalltoheck! You all had me convinced I was wrong and it was Sayler.
It's Salyer!
And Cassy, to boot.

I've been for Kate Price at OPP over Sayler (in the 5-1) based on her passing skills. Most posters seem to feel Sayler should be starting and that relying on DSs (that may include Price) would be better.

What's the status of Holloway? Will she find any playing time (this year or the next two years) behind Hodge and Fawcett? Will she be content as a role player? Any chance she will transfer? I only ask because I think she should transfer to Illinois - she would have a much better chance of finding playing time there If she does transfer to Illinois, she will most likely be a starter, however, she will have to sit out for a year due to inter-conf transfer rule

I know you were worried about Sayler and Price in the front row together but if you put Harmotto between in the rotation your problem is solved.

She could transfer to Illinois as a walk on and play immediately without sitting out a year. She's an Illinois resident and would be eligible for in-state tuition, making it a bit more plausible. Whether she walks on or sits a year, I'd like to see her play somewhere (preferably Illinois) rather than waiting for an injury to happen.

I think she would be better off going somewhere far away. How about Hawaii? Top program, great fan support, nice weather, not too likely to play against Big Ten teams.

Thats a good thought Bucky. She can pass, and hit. A very steady player.
