I don't think the subbing has been effective in the long term the last two years. Lorenzen led them to victory against Minnesota last year, but I think that the rotating setters played at least a role in the Badgers' midseason struggles, just as much or more than Aubrey's sickness. When Jackie again got in the lineup full time, she seemed to gain confidence and led the Badgers on the run in the NCAAs. I think that you do need to have some rein to make mistakes, or you will end up playing tight and either make more errors or not be aggressive enough. I think the Badgers have benefitted a lot this season from the fact that the lineup has been pretty much set except for when injuries forced changes. I was a little worried when Lorenzen came in against Iowa, although she apparently played fine there. Maybe it was just a wakeup call for Simpson; I hope so. As I have said before, Lorenzen is good and gives the Badgers a great insurance policy, but I think the Badgers are best staying with Simpson so they can keep their rhythm.
