Louisville up 1-0. Hammered the Irish in that first game.

Anyone know why Adrianna Stasiuk hasn't played the last couple of matches? Is she hurt? They really need her.

Anyone know why Adrianna Stasiuk hasn't played the last couple of matches? Is she hurt? They really need her. Apparently she was injured (or something) in the St. John's match. She was listed as playing in 1 game of that match and I found this comment at the end of ND's match writeup: "Notes: Notre Dame drops to 1-5 in television matches this season ... Notre Dame also was swept in conference regular season play for the first time since Nov. 7. 2004, which was also the last time the Irish lost a home conference match ... with junior Adrianna Stasiuk (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) being forced out of the match after the first game, it was the first two games she did not play in this season."

I have no idea when she's expected to return, but I hope it's sooner rather than later 'cuz ND is heading for needing to win the Big East tourney to make the NCAAs.

This doesn't help St. Johns

I'm not sure how much it hurts them, though... I don't think it really changes anything if they win the conf. tournament (or lose it to Louisville), does ND taking a nose-dive really change the way SJU would be seeded in either scenario?

This doesn't help St. Johns Why? St. John's won the first game with her playing for the entire game. If her not being there for games 2 & 3 hurts St. John's then her not being there for all 3 games this past weekend hurts Louisville as well. Though that doesn't appear to be the case since Louisville started receiving votes again in the AVCA poll after beating Notre Dame.

It appears that she sprained her ankle when St Johns' Chinese player had crossed under the net with the score in favor of SJ at 31-30...game point 32-30. Unfortunately for ND neither of the two ref's called the player for crossing onto the ND side - if the call was made, it would have been tied at 31...outcome??regardless, SJ still won. They of course continued to roll on to win the match.
I've been fairly disappointed with the down refs this year. They very rarely make calls and really only deal with the line ups. Is there something that I'm missing here?? What are their responsibilities?....just seems that they show up to get their check and get out as soon as possible

This doesn't help St. Johns Why? St. John's won the first game with her playing for the entire game. Barely. By the skin of their teeth. In a game they should have won comfortably (they gacked up an eleven point lead). It's impossible to say what would have happened the rest of the match, but I have to think, given the results this past weekend, that a big reason for ND's struggles in games two and three was the loss of Stasiuk. (Lest it get lost, it's impossible to say what would have happened... I'm not saying ND would have won, they very well might have lost, as SJU is a good team that doesn't make a lot of mistakes.) Well, I think that ought to be the case, but I'm not sure the poll voters are fully aware of the situation (though surely, they should have noticed that ND was also swept at Cincinatti...).
