Kolo&^^_&^&%), I am sure the girls all play hard and it is probably a matter of "how" they play. Harmotto brings an incredible energy to her position, that I don't see in the above mentioned. Ask the Mn fans, they know what I am talking about.

I think Meriwether is having the best season. She has just had some dominant matches against very good teams. I might be accused of being a homer, but I think that Taylor Reineke of Wisconsin isn't far from being worthy of consideration with the others here. Her offensive numbers aren't as impressive as some of the players here, but she is leading the Big Ten in blocks at about 1.7 per game overall and more than that in conference play only. She has really taken some good hitters out of their game this season (okay, she has done it to people at times the last two years as well). It's nice to bring up TR's name here, and she is a great middle blocker for the Badgers. She even shut down Meriwether last when the Bruins came to town. But I can't help but think, if you look at the stats and the value each of these players mentioned above brings to their teams, that you can't but help to conclude that Meriwether is having one heck of a year. Simply put, the Bruins would be nowhere without her. Meriwether's blocking has been nothing short of fabulous this year, which might be the most important stat when you measure the effectiveness of a middle blocker. But she is equally dominant from the offensive side of the net. She's got my vote....

Watch Dozier from Ohio State I have seen her in several B10 matches and she looks good and get's better; to me a very bright spot for OSU. Not in the "Bests MB in NCAA" conversation yet but will be soon. The best Freshman MB in the B10 that I have seen this year.

I'd between Harmotto and Nana right now. Fuluke is a great athlete, tremendous player, but she hasnt stepped up as a leader on the court yet. I guess I'd have to say that about Harmotto too though. Both players are leaders at times. Meriweather has to be one all the time. Therefore, I place my vote for..............Meriweather!!

Why so surprised, Ruffda.? I'm a Badger fan, true, but I'm also a fan of excellence in the game, and Nana so far has had an extraordinary year. Right now, I think she is having the best year a middle could ever want to have.

POY? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) In my book, she's a strong candidate, but a lot depends on where UCLA finishes their season.

Meriweather Hands down she is the real deal! All of the players named above, and some not listed such as Anna Cmaylo of Santa Clara, are deserving of strong AA consideration. No one is so much better than the others as to deserve such hyperbole. And I thought the term "she is the real deal" had been banned from this forum so as to be the exclusive territory of parents posting on PrepVB. For what it is worth, the only time this year they faced eachother, Foluke outperformed Nana in every category (plus Stanford got the W): Foluke 18-2-35 .457 2 SA 7blocks 0 BE Nana 17-7-36 .275 0 SA 5 blocks 1 BE

However - she's rather slow compared to all the other players mentioned.

Nana would be good with the national team. With Danielle Scott getting older and not being as quick as she was her college years, I know that Nana would fit in for that position just right. But she'll need some training time to develop even more.

MN fan here, and yeah keystonekid, she is so much fun to watch. She had a great match here at MN last weekend. I love her excitement. Even though I am a Gopher fan, I really appreciate good VB, and I didnt find her annoying at all with her celebrating. I love her game.
MN does have a good dual of middle blockers though. Jones and Nelson are good. Jones has still so much potential, its scary.

Any consideration for the middle (Boeve) from Iowa State. I saw her play at KU and I have to say she is very explosive and blocks great. I see that she was the national player of the week as well. In my opinion Stalls does not belong on this list. The fact that she plays at Nebraska makes her a good middle? I don't think so. There are better middles in the Big 12.
