There is a pre-season tourney at Concordia this weekend that will have UCLA, Lewis, Concordia, and Rutgers matching up against one another. UCLA is always a strong team, but I wonder if any of the other teams has a shot at beating UCLA, especially now that their best player Mount is done for the season. Eventhough this is pre-season I would love to see Lewis beat UCLA in the match. Lewis comes back with all of their starters including 2- All Americans (Fabiano Baretto, Ryan Stuntz) All Miva players Martins, Bird and their only senior, middle blocker Kevin Miller. Lewis has a lot of leadership this year, I think they can go all the way especially with Meyer back in the line-up. Any feed back on who are the teams to beat this year?

HAhaHAhahahhaHAHahah
You just reminded me that Ryan Stuntz was an All-American last year. That makes me laugh and makes me physically sick at the same time...
That could be one of the worst All-American picks in the history of the game.
PS I thought Meyer was a proffessional? Are they just gonna let that one slide and continue to let Lewis cheat? Hey man, I guess whatever it takes to make those teams competitive with the MPSF.

Ptak is back at IPFW. If he stays healthy, lookout. He's jumping out of the gym and hits the crap out of it. They are playing BSU, and OSU in southern Indiana this weekend.

Yeah Meyer is back and badder and probably older than ever. He is like the father of 3 players. And YEAH some of my friends from the MPSF who are actual liberos, who dig actual hits from guys in the MPSF not lollipops from the midwest and east, did get the shaft when Stuntz was named All-America. Ask anyone in the west if Stuntz deserved it, they would say no. Ask anyone east of Utah if he deserved it, they would say yes. Its the classic battle of east-west. But we rULE!! YAAahaaaaaa ;D

Lewis fan from manhattan beach? You must mean that your name is ryan stuntz. Everybody else who plays volleyball from that area realizes that Stuntz was only average as a high school player and thus must seriously doubt the merit of his all-american award. There are countless rummies who play better defense in a game of ace than ryan does in a collegiate match. So Ryan, be happy you have a nice plaque and be greatfull you shipped yourself out east. You might not have started anywhere else. Congratulations on taking advantage of your opportunities.

He's a very hard hitter with lots of agility. Also, often teams use the off-season to try new players and mix up the lineup. So it'll be interesting to see how everyone does, especially the individuals who will be getting their "chance" to show the coaches what they can do.

Lewis beat Rutgers and UCLA beat Concordia tonight. Here's the report from the Concordia website: Concordia Challenge Game 1 Lewis University 100 Rutgers-Newark 71 Lewis was led by Fabiano Barreto who pounded out a match high 14 kills while hitting at a .684 clip. Gustavo Meyer chipped in with 13 kills for a .545 percentage. Rutgers was led by Danko Iordanov who had 12 kills at a .435 clip. Ben Bostaph had 7 kills on 14 swings. Game 2 UCLA 100 Concordia 79 The Bruins had a well balanced attack as 3 hitters had double figure kill totals. Jonathan Acosta was high man with 13. Allan Vince had 12 and Chris Pena added 11 as the Bruins hot .398 on the evening. The Clippers were strong in the final 3 quarters of the game, but a 10 point run early in the first quarter proved to be too much for the Clippers to come back from. Wilmer Torres had 9 kills and Juan Jose Parra added 8 kills as the Clippers fell to the Bruins. www.concordia.onlinecommunity.com/cgi-any/chapters.dll/display?sitename=CONC&chaptergroup=team&name=mensvolleyball
