Looks like they ought to start planning next years team cuz as far as im concerned, no matter what the season wont get farther possibly then the 2nd round of the MPSF tourney, and that's if they're lucky. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

They are playing well together it sounds like, they just can't sustain it for longer than 2 consecutive games. Too bad, that's twice UH has gone up 2-0 and lost. BYU did the same thing to them. Like I said before though, like in baseball the averages tend to come through in the long run. Consistency pays dividends in the end. I still think UH may have knocked LBSU down to #3 in the AVCA poll, but who knows? I would like to see them play in the 1st round of the MPSF tourney. Would be a good match. Goodnight all.

UH is doing as expected. Personally, I didn't expect them to compete for the national title this year. They lost their starting outside hitters and play a young line up. Coming into this year, inconsistency was expected, as most of these players haven't seen a lot of playing time.
What is scary is that Hawaii has pushed every team they have played, and aside from Northridge and BYU, beaten each team at least once. They haven't been swept all season long and Hawaii has locked up a bid into the MPSF playoffs. They may not make it into the Final Four, but if they get hot at the right time, they may upset a team or two in the MPSF and affect who will earn that trip to Hawaii in the end of the season.

I agree with Roy. Hawaii has proven that they can play with any team in the league on any given day.
I still like our chances, especially if we can secure a #6 seed. I know we would have to go on the road, but I would rather play a road game than meet BYU before the Finals. With a #6 seed that avoids playing BYU on their home court until the Championship game. All playoff teams must win two games to get to the Final anyway.
I still remember the nightmare playoff in 2000 when Hawaii knocked out BYU (No. 1 Ranked in the Nation) in the semi finals and lost to UCLA in the Championship. They gave the At Large to the Courgars.
Wilton needs to keep (2) primary passers on the court the whole time. Thomas, Azenha and Bender are not good passers. Remember Bookum'a First Commandment: Good passes makes good sets and kills. Look at BYU their hitters are all good passers (Hillerman, Pessoa and Alleman) probably the best trio of passing/hitters in the country. That is the reason why Moreno looks so good.

Mike Wilton is the king of momentum killers. His team was hot and he killed it by tweaking with the line-up. One could argue that Al Scates would have let his hot line-up stay in the match to win. It is not about having the best six players on the court; it is about having the six best players on the court.

the tweaking probably killed what they had going and they seemed to be out of sync. the passing was really off... it's not over though...this team is able to play with any other team in the mpsf...who knows...some hawaii teams are better able to play on the road because there is so much expectation placed on them if they play in hawaii.
