USC won in 4 games, with UA taking game 2.
Gysin played well tonight with 16 kills. She was the hot hands in game 1 and 2 with 6 and 7 kills, respectively, while Kaczor and Copenhagen was slow to put the balls down.
In game 2, USC came out very slow and fell to 1-7, then tied up in the mid teens and only to fall behind by about 5 points in the 20s before trying to mount a comeback that fell short.
In game 3, USC was struggling again and Haley subbed in Bishop for Tennant and the team played more physical since then. Bishop sparked point runs behind her servings in both games 3 and 4. More importantly, she took real swings at the balls and terminated them (previously she used to swipe and tip the balls). Carico began using her, and that allowed a more open net for the outside hitters, including one kill by Kaczor with no Arizona blocker in sight.
In game 3 and 4, the Kaczor show took over, and she was putting the balls down from all over the court. Seilhamer was in her spectacular digging form, and Carico set the match pretty well (except for a few stretch of points where she was too predictable in setting the outsides).
Observing the UA's coaching stuff, usually the assistant coaches will be taking down the stats, but Burkholder was just sitting there watching the game, and not jotting down any stat. I thought that was pretty unusual (given tha coaches usually would pore over the stats).
