Down two games to nothing, especially after blowing a 28-26 lead in the second game, the Broncos found a way to win on the Lions home court. It was pretty amazing in the fourth game, as SCU found itself down 11-4 at one point, but managed to win the game and take it to a fifth stanza. In the fifth game, after having the game tied at 14-14, two straight Kim McGiven kills sealed the deal for Santa Clara and while the WCC crown is out of the question (due to San Diego's great play this year), they can still build momentum for the NCAA tournament and I suspect that this victory, on the road, will give them the necessary confidence to do well.
McGiven led the way with 22 kills, while Anna Cmaylo had 21 kills. Brittany Lowe chipped in 15 kills. On defense, Nichole Clark had five blocks, while Lowe and Cmaylo had four blocks. Caroline Walters had 22 digs in the backcourt, while Lowe and McGiven had 13 digs a piece.
Congrats again to Santa Clara.
