I too am a bit concerned about not recruiting a middle for the 2007 season. I assume dykstra will be the starting m2 if she develops a bit more. Offensively she looks good, but her blocking skills (especially lateral movement) will need to mature rather fast. Look for maya carroll to provide some depth, and it is possible that Jeffers could move into a middle position and have salow play on the right. It looks like Pete will be looking for a load of middles for 2008, with 4 total scholarships available look for him to recruit 3 middles and one opposite. The midwest is loaded with good middles. Not sure if Janelle Gabrielson is big enough to play middle in the big ten even though she has some major hops. I could see her being the setter of the future or maybe play on the right. Elle ohlander at 6'5" could play middle or right side. It would be interesting to know who else wisconsin is recruiting for 2008, could be a big class and one of the best. Please keep us wisconsin fans posted on any rucruiting rumors etc.

I was hoping that the Badgers could find a middle in this class so they would have more depth there next year and avoid having an inexperienced player there in 2008, but that is the way it goes. On the good side, one of the walk-ons who has helped the Badgers a lot will get to be on scholarship next year, which is good for them and might encourage more players to join the team in the future. As far as the recruits go, you can never have too many all around outsides, and it sounds like Alison Wack is a good one. Also, Jocelyn Wack will unfortunately not be able to be the Badgers' libero forever, so it is good that they are looking to replace her eventually. It will be a good situation for the Badgers in the back row next year, assuming everyone returns. Kuzma will either gain a year of practice experience before she is called on to play, or, if she is good enough to beat someone out and play immediately, will make the defense that much better. It sounds like this was another solid recruiting class for Wisconsin, but obviously time will tell about that.
