The other pool was full of lesser teams.... that the US at least has a decent shot of defeating: Poland, Italy, Cuba, Serbia and Mont., Japan, Turkey and TPE. I would disagree to some extent - ITA is always strong, SCG has been very tough this WC, Cuba is Cuba when it comes to vball. It is hard to predict the exact finish when you have the world top 6-7 teams playing all together. For instance CHI and CUB ended fighting for 5th-8th place finish, who could have foreseen this? So to think ITA, SCG and CUB are beatable is a little bit exaggerated (at least as of today). Re TUR: USA will have a chance to prove it tomorrow, Nov 16th (see my previous post).

I wasn't trying to make a blanket statement that the US could/would beat all those teams in the other pool. I do think they match up better against most of those teams. They are all good teams in pool E, but pool F was definitely the tougher pool. It bears itself out in the results from the first matches in the final. The three top teams coming out of pool F won their matches against their pool E counterpart: Russia beat Italy, Brazil beat SCG, and China beat Cuba.
