Please give some historical perspective to the question of schools who have had poor seasons following a Final Four appearance. Is Tennessee the biggest flop....or have there been others?

They aren't a flop, they are just young., and now have one of their best players injured. Not everyone can be Stanford. I think it is pretty remakable that a school like Tennessee can make the Final Four, I mean, how many schools have ever been to a Final Four, out of the 300+ that play? 25? 30? Idaho Boy will probably know. Santa Clara isn't exactly setting the world on fire, and Elite 8 team Arizona is having a down year.
Hey IB what is the number?

Below is a list of all of the teams that have been to a Fianl Four. I had forgotten about LSU, and Mich State, not to mention UT-Arlington.
Pretty amazing that more programs have not made it. My apologies if I left someone out.
Arizona BYU Florida Hawaii Illinois Long Beach LSU Mich State Minnesota Nebraska Ohio State Pacific Penn State San Diego St San Jose St Santa Clara Southern Cal Stanford Tennessee Texas UT-Arlington UCLA Washington Wisconsin
Only 24 out of 300+

Call me crazy for thinking this, but didn't Cal Poly make a Final Four many moons ago?

Call me crazy for thinking this, but didn't Cal Poly make a Final Four many moons ago? Don't know about that, but I remember seeing San Jose State players warming up in T-shirts that mentioned something about "1984 Final Four".

It doesn't help to dispel the perception that you were a two week wonder when you are unable to follow up your run with another strong season. Right now, I am not even sure UT is in the NCAA tournament, with all the losses they have taken. They will probably make it, but they should play on the road and against a good team in a neutral site match if that is the case. If they can advance from that, it would make them look better. I realize they are young and have injuries, but top teams fight through that and still win a lot.

Wasn't Tennessee in the Sweet 16 the year before?
IB- I think you arre right, Cal Poly was in, when Sandy Aughenbaugh (sp) played there.
