Just an interesting idea I had. Which schools have the nicest looking courts- where you wouldn't mind seeing YOUR team play on all the time.
I'm wondering if we should categorize it the type of court. i.e. sport court, regular wooden/gym court, terra flex, etc.
...ehh whatevers.
Here are my faves:
Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, Omaha Qwest Center, Nevada WAC Tourney arena, Idaho, Long Beach State, Louisville, Pacific- Spanos, Santa Clara, Missouri, Colorado.
My Top Five are:
Florida Louisville Hawaii LBSU Missouri

Wazzu has an AWESOME volleyball-specific facility and court. Wood court (specifically for volleyball), and perfect seating... and great fans to boot. I would say it seats about 4,000-5,000 people. Easily the best volleyball atmosphere in the PAC-10. Bohler Gym, with the seats retracted: From the outside, it's an old building with a remodeled interior: I just think it is perfect for volleyball, really intimate. Here at UW, HecEd(Bank of America Arena) is a very intimate basketball facility, but not so much for volleyball, IMO.

Bohler is pretty good, but I don't like the corner seats and near pillar seats for viewing. I think the max is 2400.

Do they have to attend services after each match?

Do they have to attend services after each match? I think most teams get enough of a taste of tough services and aces to not need to do that in Mem. Gym.

Hofstra has a great looking court too. My high school gym is bigger than this...

Saw Idaho on TV last night. A stage at one end of the gym?
Wazzu has basketball backboards that need to be retracted for volleyball?
WI's fieldhouse would be nicer if they didn't use Sportcourt.
I like the MN's Pav now that it has the wood floor. High ceilings (probably the highest in the country!), court level endline seating, and plenty of courtside seating. Pretty much volleyball only so no basketball stanchions to get in the way. And when it even gets 1/2 full the place can be loud! Nice capacity at 5,700.

I'm not a big fan of Wisconsin's court on TV. The contrast of the players against the bright red and black court starts to hurt your eyes after a while.

Yes, WI needs a new floor.
I've never cared for the Pavilion, although the court is fine. You lose something when the endline seating is so limited. I always liked Williams...
I'd like to see somebody serve a skyball at the Pavilion. It'd be an interesting change of pace.

I cannot stand courts that are just basketball courts with lines to delineate the volleyball playing portion. Nothing irks me more than that. And so many schools do this(and some of them with a lot of money), it's so pathetic. Spend the money to get your team a volleyball specific court if they share a facility. Pic of Florida's court, they changed it for this season. This is what it used to look like: This is what it looks like now
