I hear you Yukon Cornelius. I'm just saying people will question the title if BYU wins it regardless of whether or not the accusations made against the Cougar volleyball program are valid. I believe matches, titles etc should be won or lost on the court. Shame on UCLA!

What bothers me about this article is that they conveniently leave out bits of information that the rest of the readers should know. Hillman's eligibility is being questioned, but if all happened according to what was said, he hasn't broken any rules. I don't buy into the argument of breaking the "intent" of the rules. After all, if it were a problem, it would be against the rules.
Also, I am upset about the fact that they complain about 26 and 27 year old players, only a year after it was ruled Cameron Mount wasn't eligible to play. He would have been a 26 year old senior for UCLA, if Scates hadn't used his eligibility in his first year.

It appears that gquinonez@media.ucla.edu came here, pulled some headlines off the forum, and wrote an article about them in his paper.
No research, all heresay.
No supporting facts for his end statement that BYU is hurting volleyball!
Answer me this gquinonez@media.ucla.edu, how many fans on average at BYU? How many at Hawaii the 'other bad team?' Your season high at UCLA in attendance was worse than the lowest at UH, and I'm guessing not much better than the worst at BYU!
Your whining story isn't going to encourage anyone in this nation to come watch a match! Yeah, UCLA lost, get the hell over it!! Write an article that will encourage more people to come watch! Don't give them a cop-out of ("oh, we're gonna lose cuz our young bucks are playing against grandpas").
Half-researched, dim-witted opinion articles like this, and all the excuses that have been made on this forum are what is killing this sport! ABSOLUTELY SLAYING IT!
I stopped coming over here for a while this season because of all the excuses being made and all the arguments about men's volleyball player's ages, and what is fair, etc. etc. Then I realized what is happening. You guys are concentrating on the wrong parts of the sports. You're giving the young kids that want to be involved in this sport a cop out and excuses to go try something else, instead of encouraging them to try to beat out some of these foreigners, or try to be the best they can be.
GROW UP people! How many times do we have to say it? Life is NOT FAIR!! Deal with it. It's how you square up to your challenges and overcome them that is the real story! Not how fast you can make an excuse.

I just think that since Joe has been vindicated by the NCAA that it removes the purported asterisk that UCLA/UCSB would like to insert next to their name. I really think that the only ones with the question in their mind will be Al Scates and co. as justification why they didn't get the trophy. I feel the same way as I said earlier. Titles are won and lost on the court. Also, no one has won it yet. That is important to keep in mind.

everyone just needs to focus on their own team and make sure that their players are eligible. it doesn't help anyone if everyone keeps ratting on each other or insinuating things. if everyone takes care of themselves volleyball will be fine.
