You'll have to save up your pennies and come to enjoy some Husker hospitality I'm planning on it! My best friend in the world lives in Omaha and I haven't seen her in a long time. It's a great excuse to head up there and watch the tournament!!

I wanna see if NMSU will hang with NU next season. It's nice to see NMSU take that step, They'll be just as competitive next year just like this year...

Its a great match for NMSU. Louisville should be a top 25 team next year. Nebraska will be loaded as usual. The problem is that NMSU doesn't match up well against Nebraska. Hawaii isn't known for being a strong blocking team and really put up a strong block against NMSU. I can only imagine what Nebraska is going to do. NMSU loses 2 passers in Allen and Borden as well as their setter Choi. If they can't pass and can only go to the outside, they will meet a huge block.

That should be a good match and could feature 2 players from Scottdale's Desert Mountain HS team - Tara Mueller for Nebraska and Whitney Phillips for NMSU.

Hawai'i isn't usually known as a strong blocking program but this year, Hawai'i has a very strong blocking team. True, Hawaii's blocking has been strong this year. However, even Hawaii's blocking this year doesn't compare to the general blocking the Huskers can put up. I would argue that the only Hawaii team in recent years that would have been able to compete with Nebraska solely on blocking ability would have been the 1999 team. As I said before, NMSU had some difficulty with Hawaii's block in both matches this year. If passing breaks down against the Huskers who are generally much more proficient at blocking than Hawaii (and most other teams in the nation), NMSU is in for some trouble.

So, Roy, you see NMSU as being competitive if passing doesn't break down? I think so. Anyway, the game will give some kind of measure of Nebraska's might against Hawaii, as NMSU has been giving Hawaii all kinds of problems in recent times.

Anyway, the game will give some kind of measure of Nebraska's might against Hawaii, as NMSU has been giving Hawaii all kinds of problems in recent times. Competitve is a very vauge word. Without a doubt, NMSU will be the underdogs in that match. I think they have the potential to cause some problems for Nebraska if the passing is on. They should have the balance and a strong middle attack to keep the block honest. And obviously if the passing is on target, they can at least keep themselves in the match. However, as I have said of NMSU, they rely on their balance. They don't have the strong outside hitter to bail them out of trouble. If Nebraska can camp out on the outsides, it'll be a very quick night for NMSU. Their outsides in possibly English or Callis will have a really tough time getting the ball down against a block of Pavan and Stalls.

Wow. Very nice addition for NMSU. But, how will they hold up on their side of the net? Losing three seniors this season in three primary positions is pretty tough for any team. We'll have to wait and see next year how the new NMSU team will perform and adjust to new personnel and line up changes.
IF NMSU plays at the same level as this year, I think they could give Nebraska a tough time. But, we all know DEEP inside that the Huskers most likely will win with so much experience returning. I mean, NMSU is good, but Nebraska is much better in many aspects of the game.

It's not the outcome that stirs attention, as all seem to say NMSU will probably lose. It's how NMSU plays. Will it be playing tough as they have been playing Hawaii? I hope so. This would bring more respect to the WAC.
