I doubt Hawaii would have much trouble convincing teams to come to the SSC for a tournament over Thanksgiving if they did get rid of the WAC tournament.

I have stated in years past that I personally like the WAC tournament. This year's tournament is very different from years past. StuffU makes a great observation. Assuming all goes according to seed, Hawaii and NMSU will face off in the in finals. The winner will get a strong look from the committee for seeding in the NCAA tournament as they are both ranked teams. To me, this is no different that Hawaii playing another tournament on the mainland against a ranked team. For both schools, a win could mean a top 16 seeding and the chance to host the first/second round.
I personally also like the tournament as it's a nice perk for the other schools. No other school will make the NCAA tournament aside from Hawaii and NMSU and I highly doubt anyone is going to be able to knock off either school to win the WAC title. But these players in these other programs work just as hard as the players for NMSU and Hawaii and should get some kind of post season. While this isn't the NCAA tournament, it is a nice benefit for those players.

By the way, does anyone know if they are still going to hold the Tourney next year because I thought I remember reading that they won't continue it after this year...? Anyone know?....Hope not!
